The number one piece of advice I received before doing the (scariest project of my life) CreativeLIVE class? “Be Myself”
Which is ironic, since that's exactly the advice I give to crafters who are struggling to talk about their business and work. In fact, a whole section of my workshop includes pages of questions for you to figure out what that really means, for you. But how do you do it? How do you “be yourself” in your business?
In today's episode, I'll share how the heck I figured out how to Be Myself, and how it totally changed the way I think about things.
How to Be Yourself (Even when you're a nervous wreck.)
- Get clear on what you love.
- Show up and be present.
- Decide connection matters.
How are you being yourself in your business (and life?) How are you hiding yourself?

July 30, 2014 at 11:40 am (10 years ago)Thanks for a great podcast! I definitely show up and am myself when I am face-to-face with yarn buyers at a show or my studio and when I am teaching. I am not showing up as well in my fiber show applications where I’m trying to write what I think they want to hear. Instead I need to get them to see my sparkle***.

July 30, 2014 at 11:45 am (10 years ago)My biggest thing is this fear: How do I be myself when for many years I’ve been told that my personality is wrong? Now I’m learning that I am an OK person and my personality isn’t wrong but it’s still hard to get over that fear.

July 30, 2014 at 12:31 pm (10 years ago)YES! I know this fear well!
But it looks like you’ve landed on where it’s stemming from, so you can catch yourself and remind yourself; My personality is totally fine. It is ME. And I don’t have to change.

July 30, 2014 at 12:32 pm (10 years ago)Yes! It’s much easier to be yourself in person, and harder to do it in writing (especially when you KNOW you’re being judged!) Just remember that the judging is looking for specialness and difference, so being yourself will be what makes them realize you’ve got something different!
