There is so much at first! I had the size photos needed to be posted on my wall for a long time.

Thank you @jill-wolcott! And thanks for pointing out the picture issue – I did not notice when I checked the website. I replaced the photo.

Celery looks very, very interesting, Karen W. Thanks for sharing this.

@angelia-robinson I have been considering crowdfunding for a book too. Have you seen Celery? It is an app that you can add to any website for products, but you can use it for crowdfunding too. They use Stripe, but only charge 2% per transaction over the stripe fees. I like that I can use it for any product on my website too and they…[Read more]

Yay! Congrats, Jane!
I have lots of thoughts on this!
I've shared some of them here:
–How to Launch Anything
–How to Avoid Marketing BurnoutA few more thoughts:
The main thing is to PLAN to talk about it, for at least two weeks. Make a list of all of your marketing outlets (social media, email, blog) and their consistency, and then write out…[Read more] -

Thanks, Karen! Your book is lovely. I appreciate your perspective as someone who achieved success without having large following in place first. It gives me hope.
I'm connected to 2 knitting guilds in my local area. One of them is quite large with 50-100 members attending the monthly meetings. I've always gotten positive feedback there, though I…[Read more]

Thanks Katie, Lynn, and Jill! I will definitely take a look at Amanda Palmer's book and video. I don't have much (if any following, but I just took Tara's class on social media.

I used crowdfunding to help pay for the book I published last year. I chose Pubslush as my platform because it was specific to books (and because I saw Donna Druchunas using it). Sadly, Pubslush no longer exists, so that's not an option.
My campaign was not fully funded, but I did reach past the point that Pubslush would go ahead and mark the…[Read more]

Angelia, I think Katie and Lynn give good advice. You might look at Patreon. Kitty has done a bunch of funding using that–but again, they have an existing and huge following.

My book, Lazy Sunday Knitted Socks (five simply indulgent beaded socks to knit) is almost ready for the printers *insert celebration dance here*. So now I am turning my attention to my marketing plan and the launch.
I am wondering if any of you can point me in the direction of any great resources (other than Tara's book).
If any of you have…[Read more]

@tanja-osswald I am sharing your website on Facebook, but the picture of the greens is loading super slow. You probably need to use lower resolution photos.

Angelia, at least watch Amanda Palmer's TED talk on asking and how it's a two-way transaction.
Having watched this video many times and read the whole book, I think it's important for you to not see the people you're asking as “strangers” and instead see them as “my people.” As long as they are strangers, they won't…[Read more]

Taking a further step towards marketing, I put my website online yesterday. As it is International Crochet Month, I'll do a raffle every week in March, with patterns of mine as prices. But, as the website is brand-new, not much people know about it…
So can you share about the raffle?

For general philosophy on growing a crazy-committed audience and learning how to ask with dignity, I highly recommend the Art of Asking by Amanda Palmer. One note, she's an indie musician, so some of the settings of the book might require just a touch of imagination to get past, but her theory on how to connect with your audience and ask for what…[Read more]

We did strict auto-immune protocol (more restrictive than whole 30, and highly recommended if you have any auto-immune condition) for 11 months in order to heal my daughter's thyroid. It was totally worth it, her thyroid anti-bodies are much reduced, her thyroid hormone levels are now that of a normal person, and her thyroid itself shrank 1…[Read more]
