I am a completely newbie tech editor looking for some help. My local fiber festival is doing a pattern collection for this year's festival, with the patterns being designed by local designers, knit with local yarn, edited by local tech editors, etc. (Details here, this explains it better than I can briefly:…[Read more]

What about a password protected section of your website for the content upgrade? I use this with my test knitters. We have a special place where I can post pattern updates for a test in progress.
And I am glad you are not a robot.

@ann-tudor This is VERY exciting. Congratulations! I am on the fence about applying to TNNA, but a friend (who is going and went last year) told me there are now tables available as opposed to booths. Is this what you are doing, renting a 2×8 table? I can't seem to find the cost of the table vs booth.
I will be watching this thread, as I have…[Read more]

@karen-robinson – Oh my gosh, great questions/things to think about. Thank you!!!
So, going to the overarching question – why consignment? I'm reaching out to friends and family that aren't necessarily in full-scale/full-time production mode, and I asked them upfront what their preference would be.
Stockists' fee: You make a good point. Part…[Read more]

I have my yarn on consignment at my LYS, and we just did a verbal agreement. But since I'm up there a few times a month, I'm comfortable with that. If I were to put items on consignment elsewhere, I'd want a more formal agreement. (How formal is probably up to what you're most comfortable with.)
1. The 30-70 split is good. (I've also seen 40-60.)…[Read more]

Karen Robinson replied to the topic International Taxes – shipping from US in the forum Engineering 8 years, 3 months ago
I used to take my packages to the post office to ship internationally (and I've shipped internationally for something like 20+ years, way back when I sold things on eBay). But I've recently started printing out shipping labels (and the customs form) from my computer. I double checked with my post office to be sure, but by doing that, now I can…[Read more]

I searched the forum before posting and didn't see a similar post, so here goes… I am getting ready to approach three artisans for discussions about consignment, and, having never done this before, I am looking for feedback as to how my pitch looks to those of you who have either run consignment as shop owners or put items up for sale through…[Read more]
