I use an external hard drive for backups (and older photos stay just there).

I'm looking for suggestions for digital photo storage so all my product photos don't eat up my laptop's entire hard drive. I'm constantly bumping against a full hard drive and having to go back and comb through all the duplicates to delete and make enough space. Cloud-based service, external hard drive, something else? Ideally not with an…[Read more]

@c-c-almon sounds like a good plan. I love the idea of all your patterns being cuff down and toe up, makes them work for so many more people!
@tanja-osswald That's pretty impressive that many patterns. Did you get my email btw? Before I was getting bounce notices but you replied so you were getting them but I'm thinking you didn't get my…[Read more]

First off, I have to say, I'm so glad these forums are here. =) I started map making this morning, and quickly found myself stuck. After beating my head against it for a while, I took a break and read through some of the old quarterly map-making threads, which helped a lot.
I started off this morning thinking that my goal had to be a $ sales…[Read more]

My goals for Q2 are pretty straightforward: publish 9 more patterns and publish my book.
1 pattern is already marked off, a second one ready to go. 🙂 -

You could use Doodle, too.

I'm not going to make a physical map this quarter, but my plan is to update the remainder of our old patterns. Some just require minor updates to get into our new layout. But some of them need to have a 3rd size added to them (socks) beyond updating to our new layout. And if possible, I'm going to add the opposite directions (toe-up or cuff-down)…[Read more]

@karen-robinson This is great idea. I had thought of doing that, but wasn't sure if it would work. Looking forward to seeing you and squishing your yarn! 🙂

Could you use a Google spreadsheet? You could list out the times that are available and send the link to whoever needs to sign up (or just post the link). Then they could put their name in an empty slot to sign up.
I know we'll both be super busy this weekend, but I hope we'll have a chance to chat for at least a few minutes.

Here's mine… I wanted to make it like a game where you have quest but I couldn't figure out how to write it out that way so I made a list. But I'm thinking about it like a quest…

Hey all, I will be attending DFW Fiber Fest next weekend and will be providing CustomFit measurement services at my LYS's booth. The last time I did this, I advertised on Rav and had people contact me directly for an appointment. It didn't go so well because messaging through Rav and email causes some mix-ups. I am trying to avoid that this…[Read more]

Good advice. Thanks @karen-robinson 😀
The main reason I'm on all of these platforms are sales (as I suppose it is for most of us, right?). But I also want readers to my blog, aka traffic to my website. Therefore I need people to regularly see my posts and act on them.
I would love to build a community on Facebook. I feel like people on…[Read more]

First, total permission to drop Instagram if you don't like it and don't feel like it's doing very much for your business. Just because it's right for some businesses doesn't mean it has to be right for you and your business.
But something to consider before making the final choice: What is your goal for each of these social media platforms? Do…[Read more]

OK, here's the deal. I took a good hard look at my social media today, Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest.
In the 1st quarter:Facebook gave me 28 more followers (90 now), +/+ 54% traffic to my website and I posted almost every day. But there was not much communication between myself and my followers
Instagram gave me 2 more followers (208…[Read more]

{{HUGS}} @linda-tieu! My condolences to you and your family.
I lost my father suddenly in 2010 and still have moments where it's difficult. For example, family events, holidays and just moments where I remember he was going to show me how to do something but didn't get the chance and now I'm trying to do that thing.
I am trying to be open with…[Read more]
