I wasted a lot of time online again. Well wasted, I read a few newsletters and from those clicked through to some articles. Before you know it it's 2 hours later.
I'm getting to that point again. Despair and doubting everything I do. For example, I looked at my open rates and click throughs from my newsletter the other day. Totally by accident,…[Read more]

@deeann-ross As long as you advertise the bathroom situation clearly, I wouldn't worry about it. Let your customers decide what is acceptable to them. I love using Air B&B because of the quirky and interesting places I can stay.

@jill-wolcott – I think you idea is a good one, I don't want to put all my eggs in the basket of air B&B, I'm not even sure what permits I need, so much to do. But we have talked about having it as a bed for human and a stall for horse deal. We are not too far off the main interstate for the east coast. Plus kind of close to military too. It…[Read more]

@deeann-ross I had a brilliant reply to you, that apparently got lost in the forum misbehavior. I suggested that you rent the basement for both AirB&B and classes, even to yourself, so that you have something that doesn't require a lot while you transition. Then, see what doors open up. It would probably take a little effort to get it ready, but…[Read more]

Wishing you lots of luck with the audit. Here's to finding time each day for deep breaths and whatever calming routine works for you as you prepare.

Finally made it back to check-in! WHEW!
Whatcha working on? Finalizing initial orders with several different companies. Paperwork tasks. Scheduling appointments with reps/indie businesses. Point-of-sale system training. Reworking a cowl pattern that I didn't look over well enough before teaching it at a retreat. We're at 19 days out from the…[Read more]

@leigh-kristensen, That is a very good point about changing sheets. Yes I would much rather do workshops than changing sheets. Unless the workshop is a weekend long and I'm making money.

Whatcha workin on?
Spending about half an hour a day getting ready for the Unemployment audit. It sounds like it's just random that they picked me, but it's still a ton of work to get ready for, and I feel like they're going to find a bunch of stuff I should have done differently and tell me I don't know how to run a business and I'll want to…[Read more]

What’s going well? I’m still behind regarding my map and mile markers, because of the things that happened to my 13 yo daughter. We had to meet different people during working hours, plus I had trouble concentrating. But I made some progress on a personal level. I did our personal taxes and found out we get a substantial amount of money back on…[Read more]

@leigh-kristensen. Thanks for your advice here. I intend to do just that. I did it with my Allison bag too. But the thing is, I'm so darn impatient, haha… But…I have to work with my shopping bag as it is right now. And adjust that one to one I like and am confident to sell. 😀
By the way, I love your bag and needle case.

@nicole-van-gremberghe I agree with @jill-wolcott. I'm a bag maker. When I get started with a new design, I make up the first sample, then sit back and work out why it doesn't work. I went through six iterations with the Ultimate Knitting Bag, trying different materials, techniques and construction processes. I gave the first three iterations…[Read more]

@deeann-ross Map making is about identifying you dream business, and working out what you want to spend your days doing. What excits you. Do you want to spend your days changing sheets for airB&B people, or running workshops?

What's going well? I released Louleigh’s Simple Socks yesterday. http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/sources/louleighs-simple-socks
Whatcha' workin' on? Writing up the process / map, and lessons learned for putting a pattern collection together. Then I’m going to hide under a rock and knit for a day or two.

After about a year of putting it off, last Friday I registered PennyWise for a sales tax certificate so I can have the option to sell pdfs and related stuff (that you can touch and use).
I was going to have little acorn sell all of it but it makes more sense to keep it in pennywise.
Why do I care? Filling out forms in NYS is a royal pain. I…[Read more]
