What's going well
Things are moving ahead. Mitch told me I'm taking some really good photos (I know only some are, but I think at least more are good). A major distraction as my Mom took a turn to the worse on Friday and we spent all weekend wondering if this was the “terminal event”. She rallied and was so chipper yesterday when she was being…[Read more] -

Going well: I'm getting back in a rhythm on Instagram, and I'm seeing results! I've seen my clicks on the various links in my linkinprofile going up, and I made a sale this morning that according to Shopify came straight from Instagram (new person not on my mailing list). I also made two sales directly from the newsletter I sent out yesterday. I'm…[Read more]

Great news, @jill-wolcott! So happy to hear that your classes made the minimum sign up number and that you get to teach them!

Two positives that I thought of this morning about Shopify:
1. I've linked Shopify to my MailChimp mailing list. Anytime someone makes a purchase from a link in one of my newsletters, it keeps track in MailChimp. That way I can see direct connections between a newsletter and a sale. It also saves that sale to the profile of the subscriber, so I…[Read more]

@katie-franceschi, I was a little WTF? too because I have paid for MailChimp for 5 years! But then I realized it is mailing list size, not features.

Thanks, @carmen-nuland. I think I'm going to go with the Capital One 360 savings. Now I just need to set aside a specific time in my schedule to get it set up!

@tanja-osswald, here's the link. There is not much conversation there, but apparently they look. You can see that 246 readers, but the only comment was my friend Paige saying she'd sign up!

This sounds great – meet-up at 5:30, Hilton bar, on Friday!
It's funny, Stacey asked me when we were having the Starship dinner so she could arrange the BCS dinner around it..she was afraid that they wouldn't have enough people if all Starshippers opted to have dinner together instead 🙂
I told her we'd probably have to both make it…[Read more] -

what's going well
So many things are moving so quickly I took myself off to the library this morning to brain dump and prioritize. I feel better now.E found some tree guys to take care of not only some trees that aren't thriving and threatening to fall but also to help clear out some garden beds and they are ok that it's currently infested with…[Read more]

My sales are low enough that I track every single sale :). Eventually I'll probably use some tools like IFTTT or Zapier to help update my spreadsheets.
Like @dana-gervais, I try and allocate my expenses like yarn, tech editing, etc. towards individual patterns so I have a break-even point. Yes, sometimes that can seem depressing as there are…[Read more]

I've pretty much let my Etsy shop falter but couldn't decide which way I should go: pursue the Woocommerce shop I set up on my site, continue with Etsy, or try and do both.
I recently read this article and it's led me to believe that my own shop is the way to go. I've just been afraid to commit because “everyone else” is doing Etsy and I know it…[Read more]

Katie Franceschi replied to the topic Mailchimp Auto Responder Free! in the forum Engineering 8 years, 1 month ago
Interesting! I just moved to their paid plan last month and have yet to explore automation. I want to get more into it (delivering free patterns, and perhaps wall paper images of pretty yarn) but I've been so busy with orders lately I haven't explored much. I'd be unhappy that automation is now free, except I've been proactively growing my email…[Read more]

Whatcha workin on?
Right now, I need to finish a shawl, so I can block it and have photos taken next weekend.
Besides, I'm working on pattern drafts to send to testers.
I have a huge list of other to-dos but I'm prioritizing and trying not to feel bad about not getting it all done.
On May first, I started to start my day with a little no-purpose…[Read more] -

A stupid question, though: What is the LYSO thread? -

Way to go @jill-wolcott! I'm sure your classes will be a big hit!
Well done @carmen-nuland – starting a newsletter is a scary leap.
Pretty pattern @tanja-osswald

My turn! I marketed my TNNA classes to get the minimum registrations to be sure I get to teach them (and get paid!). Hard to figure out how to get the attention of Local Yarn Shops–or even where. I posted in the LYSO thread on Ravelry, and started my Color-of-the-Day posts on Instagram, plus did cross posting to knitting groups on FB. Got 11…[Read more]

I'm super excited for this news, because I'm using the free MC plan and had planned to just not get automation until my business could support the cost.
Does anyone know if there are limits to it (like number of automations you can send), or is it all still just based on # of subscribers? I honestly just haven't had the time to dig in and find…[Read more]
