I'd had a slow start to the year in terms of sales, and May has been a complete turn around. My physical products had a lot more coverage from Podcasters than I had anticipated, so I've had a lot of enquiries for sold out stock. Usually this would totally stress me out. Now that I have the newsletter I feel a lot calmer about keeping new…[Read more]

The way I added it to my Ravelry profile page was to add it in the notes section, added a hyperlink. That's the only way I could figure out how to do it.

So, a couple of things… one, I successfully opened my shop on Tuesday, May 16! It even looked like an honest-to-goodness shop on opening day 😀 We're in soft-open mode until Saturday, June 24 so that my husband gets a little extra time to finish making some of the shop fixtures and I can work on systems, marketing, etc.
Two, I'm insanely…[Read more]

What's going well: I finally found time to come over and check in! The shop opened on May 16 as planned, and I'm settling into a routine. As expected, it's a bit of a slow start, but I'm finding time to work and catch up on back episodes of the podcast – some timely reminders are coming up as a result! Via customer feedback, it looks like I've…[Read more]

Congrats on selling out your class!!
And I'm really glad I saw that you got to do some work with milk fiber – one of my customers just asked me if I'd consider bringing some in, so I'll have to head over and read your blog post.

@jess-cook Most people don't want to pay for a copyeditor. My pet peeve is punctuation. Comma splices and scare quotes drive me nuts.

what's going well
Other than forgetting that Memorial Day & Shavuot would be in the same week, I'm moving forward with my lists. I also finally narrowed down and solidified my focus for PennyWise. I've been talking of this for years, but I finally figured it out. For the time being I'll continue my current offerings and services but won't take on…[Read more] -

Whatcha workin on?
I finally got over being sick, felt better for four days, then got sick again, so I haven't gotten a whole lot done, which has left me feeling frustrated. But I did manage to pull out all the inventory I bought last year that I know I'm not going to use (it just doesn't go with the direction I'm moving in now), put it in ziploc…[Read more]

Review of May 2017:
What went well? Eventually, I found the perfect pattern for my new zipper pouches. But it took a lot longer than I had planned. I have to take that into account, that it takes time to find or develop a new pattern for new products.
I went through a newsletter course that I bought in December of 2016. It was interesting but…[Read more]

In the mornings I use feedly to read articles and queue them for sharing on social media so I just had to come in here and share that I found TWO articles (one on Inc. and one from Seth Godin) using these errors, blargh! I was seriously surprised that there isn't a strong copy editor involved for either place, apparently.

@nicole-van-gremberghe you're right, it's this week's blog post. It's the post belonging to this week. 🙂

@jess-cook I have these 2 notes under my clear desk pad because I can't seem to remember it. It's than vs then. Lay vs lie and of course laying vs lying. To quit, quite and quiet. And is it “this week's blog post” or “this weeks' blog post” or maybe “this weeks blog post”…
But I struggle with the other issues mentioned above here too. I do use…[Read more]

I had to look up capital and capitol today. I live on Capitol Hill (which has nothing to do with any legislative building), but it confused me about capital letters. OMG English is a horrific language!

Oh, another one I see a lot — sneak peak instead of peek. Or basically peak used for all its homonyms; a fit of peak is also ridiculous but pique is unlikely to come up in copy writing (other than the fit of pique I indulge in before completing the task lol).

@di-cannone, and I never think to do that! It is probably an age difference because you used to not be able to do short-cuts.
