I’ve been very quiet on here and haven’t had a chance to participate too much – so busy – Dad been critically ill (now on mend) plus I have a day job 4 days a week, so been busy crowbarring in the time for working on my stuff.
What's going well?
Just had a design submission accepted by a UK magazine -yay!
Did my first proper pattern launch (la…[Read more] -

technically it's not early @jill-wolcott … at least I met this deadline. There are special circumstances making this one a bit more anxiety-making than most. 😉
thank you for the good thoughts on all the new.

I have coverage through the ACA, and I have since it became available. Your income and location affect the cost and any subsidies you may receive. Originally I had a plan with co-payments, but this year I switched over to a coinsurance coverage, and I think I like it a lot better. Healthcare.gov is pretty easy to navigate, but there's a phone…[Read more]

Hi Varian, so the goal is to get the shop owner to purchase the kit. Many will do that just because they really something worth wow factor to showcase the yarn, teach a new class, etc. Is the pattern only available with the kit? Is that your concern? Otherwise, not sure what you are worried about. It's the vendor who needs to make the sale. And…[Read more]

Hmmm. I agree re holding off and getting in touch directly- she may be having some genuine issues I guess that are preventing her form fulfilling your agreed timescale. Perhaps you can give a firm new deadline that must be met or all bets are off??? Sounds harsh I know, but like you say it'll all fall on you otherwise. Don't let it put you off -…[Read more]

Sounds like an awesome project!
And unless your goal is to sell to half of the visitors of TNNA, I don't see what could go wrong. People will talk about the coat and about you and the yarn brand, and maybe someone will buy the kit. Besides, you enjoyed making it. Not everything has to be geared towards instant money recompensation.
I love Jill's…[Read more] -

@penny-shima-glanz, thanks for getting that project done early. Next time I will just tell you what to do on delivery to save you the angst. Good luck on the new project!

@lea-ann-mcgregor, I agree that the marketing curve for them may be too high to hurdle!

what's going well
Two samples complete!
My Oink Pigments design (a simple cowl) is in layout! And I'm trying to everything configured so I could release o n Ravelry during TNNA if I wanted.
This morning I got Shadow into the carrier and to the vet for his well-cat visit all on my own (Eli's in Columbus on business, I told him to take a class…[Read more] -

@varian-brandon, congratulations! I say go for it, but why not create a hat or small project for those who are awed, but not ready to take it on? The you can do workshops, etc. to help people see their way to such a big project!
I think if you realize the coat is the end, you can fill in the journey to get there.

If you are crazy, I am too – and without a bit of crazy, we wouldn't be creatives, right?
I think this is a wonderful project. Perhaps not something to repeat every year, but hey – a knitted coat in 50 colours? Fabulous. Over the top. A dream project.
And there must be at least 10 knitters around the world who would want to make that. (Also,…[Read more] -

I would also consider putting together an outline with dates which you can send to her & pad your deadlines. That way you'll have time enough to adjust if she delivers late. Lots of reminders, too. Some people need lots of reminders to meet deadlines!

Not sure how to start this.
AS you may or may not know, I have been working with a yarn company (Elemental Affects) on an “over the top” project…3/4 to full length colorwork coat…to go down the runway at TNNA on Friday. The idea is to use the fashion show at TNNA to our advantage. To create this project that will bring name recognition to…[Read more]

Still the same stuff I've been procrastinating on, in particular publish one of the two interviews on my neglected blog and take step photos for my technique newsletter. Basically, I'm trying not to let health problems take over my life. What’s going well?
