Riin,
All my jewelry in that price range comes in little cloth pouches. Some of them are in cute fabrics, but these black vinyl ones look like they can be purchased (I have 3 or 4 of them). There is often a little card with the jeweler's info and about the piece (stone, metal, etc.) -

@karen-robinson I don't think they make those velvety padded jewelry boxes in some of the sizes I would need, but I think I get your point. I need to look at nice packaging, figure out how much that costs, and add that into the cost of the products.
I'll have to figure out a way to make shipping optional. Can you hear the gears in my head turning? 🙂

@dana-gervais Oh! I'm already working on that! That will go live once I have a pretty picture to put on it. I started taking photos today and realized I needed to rewatch the “how to photograph jewelry” dvd I got and take notes this time!
@tara I switched my instagram and twitter handles to @riingill a few months ago! I will start the facebook…[Read more]

I released my first sock collection in April, and am only a few ££ away from meeting my sales target for Q2. If you're able to share this on your social medias, I'd really appreciate it.

Yep, I'd post the “leading up to launch” stuff I talked about in the podcast, on your social media where you already have people.
I'd start the biz facebook page right away.
I'd email my list ON launch day (so they can go buy).
And then on launch day, post in all your current places, change your social media handles over, etc. (to be clear,…[Read more] -

Hey Lea-Ann, I TOTALLY Love the responses you've got so far! I'm with Jess – I spend more at a LYS because it's THERE. If I wanna buy yarn at a LYS, I'm not gonna go look it up and wait, I'm gonna grab it there.
In my experience with yarn dyers (who are profitable!) they have set BOTH wholesale and retail prices so THEY are profitable selling it…[Read more]

Yesss! Tawny has this on her cart and it totally helped me! I was on my phone, thought I had completed check out and then went to bed. A few days later I got an email letting me know I still had stuff in my cart and I was SO glad!
So I TOTALLY recommend this – I LOVE it as a shopper (esp as more of us shop on phones and get distracted by…[Read more]

@tanja-osswald I am going to miss your input on the Starship. Best wishes for your business and life!
@karen-robinson Thanks for the idea of an idea journal. That may be the ticket for me. I also find that I think up content and get through a writer's block at the weirdest times (always away from my desk and computer), and I think this may be…[Read more]

Lisa Barnes replied to the topic Logo/branding refresh — costs and designer recs? in the forum Engineering 7 years, 12 months ago
I just went through a whole rebranding. I used Lisa Wood at Sprout New Media.
She worked with me on identifying my brand, created a new logo, and gave me guidance on new website themes (I hired someone who was less expensive to redo my website in a new WordPress template). This package was $1,200. Not inexpensive, but she took the time to listen…[Read more]

Going well: This past weekend was my second biggest event of the year (Houston Fiber Fest). Overall it went well, although some really rainy weather on Saturday seemed to have affected the crowd (it was indoors but driving conditions were not good). But I got to see several familiar faces and meet lots of new people, so that was great.
Working…[Read more]

@tanja-osswald: I'll miss your voice here in the Starship, but I'll definitely keep an eye on you and your business. Many happy thoughts and best wishes as you continue to move forward.
@riin-gill: I'd consider $300 on a piece of jewelry to be an investment piece, so I'd want the packaging to reflect that. Definitely a nice box (one of those…[Read more]

Whatcha workin on? What’s going well?
I finally made a bezel set pendant from start to finish, i.e., no false starts, so I could calculate the time it takes to make one. (I took a Craftsy class on bezel setting. OMG! I learned SO MUCH!) So I'm ready to start taking photos of everything today.
How can we help?
I need advice on how to launch a n…[Read more]
