@ann-tudor, Is there an area group on Ravelry? I found excellent assistants by looking there and on the general looking for work groups. It is likely to be someone with “similar” experience who you can train, but there are a lot of SAHM looking to get some part-time work to burnish resumes. If it works out, who knows where it might go.

I hired a mom based on a referral from a church. She worked for me, then stayed home with her kids and mine, and now her daughter is our pastors wife. Circles.

Sigh… I've been rather dreading my mid year review because I knew I'd have to face why I'm not where I planned to be with my video tutorials. But it was a lot better than I thought it was going to be.
1) I set 4 goals at the beginning of the year… 3 of them I'm either on track or I tweaked them and am happy with where I am. So overall I'm…[Read more]

Just wanted to say goodbye to those I met here last year. I've not been around in 2017, as I've not needed the Starship the last 6 months, but I didn't want to just disappear without a trace. Of course, today is my last day, so I probably won't see any goodbye messages in response, but you can find me on Instagram and Ravelry as DancingGeek if…[Read more]

Thanks @jeanne-stevenson. I am glad that your studio assistant is working out! I might have to try that but school starts so soon around here. They are back August 1st. But it might work out where they could continue after school.

I don't know if they sell wholesale, but there's a local business in my area that works specifically with bamboo yarn (they get fiber and spin the yarn so they might be able to do something specific for you, if they do that kind of thing). The business is called Fiber Lady and the website is https://store.fiberlady.com/.

This is a tricky one. I'm in a similar situation. I ended up hiring a babysitter that I have (she's 14 but super responsible and artistic) to be my studio assistant part time this summer. I was really nervous because she's so young but it's ended up working out great. The tasks they have her doing are fairly simple – rinsing, tagging, skeining,…[Read more]

I have been so fortunate that my retail sales are steadily climbing as well as my wholesale accounts, especially after TNNA. I have reached the point that in order to grow anymore I need to hire someone part-time for assembly and shipping. My son helped for a while but that is not working anymore. My husband has also said he would help but he…[Read more]

I am searching for a new yarn to replace Sarah's Yarns 100% Bamboo. I use it to handknit tallitot/prayer shawls. You can see examples on my web site: http://www.kavaknit.com. The yarn is DK/Sport weight yarn and I typically use a 4mm/US6 needle with it. I I am looking for a wholesale supplier of either the same weight bamboo yarn or something of…[Read more]

A late addition but I just stumbled over it again. Complementary gets frequently mixed up with complimentary. Which is especially important for people like us who do talk about colors.
