The whole phone number thing is something I've been wondering about. I'm due to order new cards, and I'm really tempted to leave it off this time. I seldom answer my phone when people call because I'm in the kitchen or doing other work and I hate playing phone tag with people. I guess I feel like I “should” have a phone number, but I'd much rather…[Read more]

Ok, this is what I came up with.

Nope, I keep the phone number pretty much “hidden”. Just the one spot on my website. I don't want to make it too easy for people to call, but it's there if someone truly needs it.

I've never had my phone number on my website (crazy stalker ex-boyfriend), but I always had it on my cards. I really don't want people to call me though. Do you put it on invoices?

No phone number. I really don't want people to call/text me, so I don't want that to be an obvious option. (I do have a phone number–through Google Voice–that I put on my website.)

Do you put your phone number on your card?

I had been putting everything on my cards for a while: email, website, Facebook, Instagram, this link, that link. I realized earlier this year that it was really “busy” and probably a bit confusing (too many options). So I cut down just to website and email (and a brief description of the business). They can get all the other links by visiting the…[Read more]

I'm designing my business cards for Riin Gill Design, and I realized that what people think you should and shouldn't put on a card keeps changing. What are you all putting on your cards these days?

This is a very interesting thread. I'm in a similar boat being at the beginning of designing and not having feedback on them. I do have a friend online and we talk business ever Sunday morning as a kind of accountability. I find that so helpful, but she is not my right people, not exactly.
I liked the video a lot but I'm an impatient girl so if…[Read more]

@karen-robinson The site you were looking at is just straight up html. The site I'm working on is wordpress. I was customizing my theme (2017), and I edited the url for facebook. When I saved it, it gave me an “unable to connect to server” message for both the admin and public sides. And for the other site on the same server. I force quit firefox…[Read more]

@riin-gill: What kind of site is it? (Word Press, Shopify, Square?) I had a problem with one of my Word Press sites a few months ago to the point where I wasn't able to log in at all (and my site was down completely). I contacted my hosting service (because I originally thought it was a problem on their end) and it turns out that there was a…[Read more]

Thanks, @karen-robinson. So the question is, why won't it load for me? I've tried multiple devices and browsers. Harrumph.

@riin-gill: *hug*
I just went to your website and it loaded fine for me. I see an image and the text Coming Soon beneath it (and link to sign up).

Whatcha workin on?
I am really frustrated. I bought a DVD on how to photograph your jewelry. I watched it 3 times. I took notes. I bought the equipment and software he used in the video. And my photos look like crap. In the video he photographs a lampwork glass necklace. I'm photographing silver, copper, and gemstones. While he showed photos he…[Read more]

YAY! That's awesome. I'm looking forward to when I can hire a VA to help get stuff done. I'm thinking SM will be the first thing I might get help with.

Thank you @grace-shalom-hopkins – I think I'll need to find someone to outsource some of the smaller tweaks. They require coding which is not my thing, but I agree with every point you made. Thanks!

What's going well? Grand opening was a major success! I sat down this weekend and powered through my books, and I realized that my mental block with Quick Books was that I was trying to use it in the same way that I use my apps for my credit card and my bank. For the second month running, I made bank, and I was able to pay my parents back for the…[Read more]
