Or not. 5 more people just voted for the gray one. It's a three way tie.
This does not help! Argh!

This is interesting. I also posted the photos in the Jewelry Business Incubators group on facebook. So far, brownrockotherside has 5 votes, brownrock has 7, grayrock has 2. So adding everyone's votes together, the first two are tied. Hmm. Well, at least it eliminates grayrock.

I like the brownrockotherside one best as the rock has texture and adds interest (but not too much) to the background. It also has enough contrast with the earrings to make them stand out. The ongrayrock is a nice rock for texture, but the gray is too close to the color of the silver so the earrings don't stand out as much (but it might be a good…[Read more]

I like the first one (brownrockotherside). I think it works well with both of the colors in the earrings, and I like the bit of texture it has.

Ok, first, thoughts. I really don't like white backgrounds with my jewelry. I tried white, and everything ended up looking sterile, clinical even. Like bodies in a medical textbook.
And I've never been a fan of earring hanging on bowls. Bowls just look dorky to me.
I do like the bringing the nature into the photos idea though. I may experiment…[Read more]

Welcome, @elizabeth1356720 – It's nice to see another artist here! I love your website and your beautiful flowers, especially. And I agree that hot-fruit desserts are amazing a la mode, yum!

You can also reach out to influencers to offer to give them a free copy of your pattern to knit themselves or to give away to their audience.

I'll throw in my vote for natural backgrounds for social media and at least one plain white or black for the shop. I also really like modeled shots for jewelry so I can tell how big the piece is, how long the chain, etc. I know you probably list that Info but I'm a visual person. 🙂

@elizabeth1356720: Welcome to the Starship, Liz! Your artwork is gorgeous. I especially loved the collection of the pieces you've done that feature quilts. (My MIL is a quilter.) The pieces with your daughter are also lovely. (I have a son who will be six next month.)

Riin,
I prefer earrings hanging, as they do on ears. Therefore, the bowl thing works well for me. If you prefer a natural look, maybe look for a twig? With a plain background behind that?
Personally, I'm a minimalist on backgrounds mostly, so I went with 100% white for years and years. Nowadays I use our 1940's white/gray marbled formica table,…[Read more]

Hi Captains!
I don't know how many of you have product based businesses, but here's my issue:
I've been using Quickbooks for Mac for the last 4 years (and I've been unhappy with it pretty much the entire time). Quickbooks announced that it is no longer going to be creating versions that are compatible with Macs. Quickbooks online is what they're…[Read more]

Thanks, everyone. You've given me some good food for thought.
I was out of town for a wedding this weekend, and in between the wedding and the reception we went for a nature walk and ended up on the shore of Lake Erie. I collected some large-ish, flat rocks that I'm going to experiment with as photo props. If I like the results, I'll post them…[Read more]
