I don't really spend a lot of time on Pinterest, but I read an interesting blog post from Megan Auman recently about “Pinterest lag.” Perhaps you are experiencing this? If so, it might at least make you feel a little better about not seeing any direct action from Pinterest right away.

Hannah Simons replied to the topic Book Discount for Digital Owners? in the forum Engineering 7 years, 10 months ago
I agree with @tabitha-dukes.
Another idea would be to suggest to people that already own a digital copy that they can now purchase the physical book so it's easy to give the book to a friend who could benefit from it. Then it could make more sense if you only wanted to do a 25% discount or something.

A couple months ago I took Elevate Your Business with Tara and Joeli. The class was awesome and I figured out that most of my customers are shopping for gifts, so I got an idea to start creating regular gift guides to post on the blog portion of my website. My hope for it was that it would help keep my website looking fresh and active to search…[Read more]

I think that multiplying the labor is smart. In the future if you hired someone to do the labor part that multiplication will be a built in cushion to help with some of the extra work you will have to do as an employer.
I think it will be more helpful for you if you looked at conversion rate instead of just sales. Conversion rate is…[Read more]

The overhead is everything that goes into selling (packaging, advertising, marketing materials, classes/education (like this), anything I pay for email services or social media scheduling) that isn't materials divided by the number of items I sell a year. So my overhead is distrusted among all my items evenly.
And no I don't lose money on…[Read more]

@sara-mccormick, How do you figure the overhead? Is it the same figure for each piece, or is it different? I can figure my overhead per year or per month and divide by the number of pieces I make in that given time period, but then the overhead per piece is less in a month or year when I make more pieces. I'm confused.
Also, don't you lose money…[Read more]

I know you have gotten other answers on this and I can understand you not wanting to run sales. But if someone has already bought a digital copy of your book at full price, you aren't truly discounting your material to offer them special pricing since they already own the book. What you are doing is providing them an incentive to buy something…[Read more]

I understand why you are multiplying the materials but am not sure why you are multiplying time in your calculations. Multiplying time by 2.5 equates to $50 per hour. If you need that much to be profitable, that is cool but the formula is pushing all my tech editing buttons.
Your pieces are lovely (love that copper shawl pin) but I don't really…[Read more]

I sell silver jewelry as well. The formula I use is (Materials x 4) + Labor + Overhead
For wholesales prices it's half of what comes out of the above equation
Try using my formula and see if you feel more comfortable with that price. Personally, I don't think the time should be multiplied, just the materials, and then the time added on to it.

I need help!
I've found different formulas to pricing silver jewelry that give WAY different results. The one I used was:
(materials + time*) x 2.5 = wholesale price, retail price = 2 x wholesale price
*based on bench jeweler's avg salary of $20/hour
The prices I got seem pretty high to me, but they're what I got, and those are the prices I…[Read more]

Today me and 3 other artists will be donating 10% of our sales to a non profit called Charity Water. If you're up for helping spread the message, or want to learn more about it check out my blog post on the topic. It's part of a cooperative social media effort that I'm organizing called #10onthe10th.

Whatcha workin on?
Working on jewelry, decluttering (still! I keep thinking of more stuff to get rid of!), and financial stuff (which just makes my brain clamp shut).
What’s going well?
Rob's bid on the house was accepted! An inspection is scheduled for Friday, so as long as nothing is horribly wrong with it, we'll be moving in…eventually. I…[Read more]

My skeins get wrapped in either hot pink or teal tissue paper (those are the main colors of my logo) and inserted into a hot pink poly mailer with a handwritten note on the invoice. One the outside, I place a custom sticker with my logo. My skeins have fiber content and brief care information on the bands, so I don't include that as a separate…[Read more]

I send out my email newsletter 2-4 times per month. My loose goal is weekly, but during peak months, I am often really busy and forget. However, my newsletter is good at garnering sales for me, so I try to keep up with it.
I send:
* New product updates. I have a new, limited edition color every month and that definitely goes to my list.
