@penny740739 Honestly, I have no idea. When I logged in for the first time here on the new starship, I was just plain “karen”

For those of you who don't know, my son has Down syndrome. We have been very proactive in planning for his future needs. This past month, we've been meeting with a financial planner who specializes in estate planning for families like ours so we can make sure we're doing all that we can. Last week, I wrote a big check for some new investments in…[Read more]

It's so hard for me to make Wednesday chats for the time being since Wednesdays are crazy busy for my family so I'm probably just going to be updating here for a while.
What I'm working on:
All the designing! I have two patterns with a tech editor, two patterns in the writing process, and one design on the needles. I need to get at least one of…[Read more] -

Oh! And I just listened to this podcast yesterday and she has a FANTASTIC system for interviewing/choosing a person: http://www.amyporterfield.com/2015/12/87-how-to-build-a-dream-team-with-melanie-duncan/
I also hear the book “Who” recommended a lot.
The main takeaways:
Be clear about what you want
Give the person an “audition” project or month…[Read more] -

At the last 2 sales I sold at there was a vendor next to me (Different one each time ) who hardly spent any time at her table and when she was there was talking on her phone or reading a book. Then they both complained to the organizers that they hadn't made any money. If you are going to sell at a show, be at your table (or have a friend watch…[Read more]

@karen DEFINITELY! Jess and I have scaled up over the course of 2 years! I think she just started editing my emails, and went back through edited my most popular blog posts and my automated e-course. And then we jumped into creating a new course, and that was mainly what she did.
What's great is that as you start a new project, once you know your…[Read more] -

what are you working on?
I'm still on the mend and coughing (it's still bronchitis). I have new meds and better special cough syrup which means I slept through the night the past two nights and am beginning to feel human again. As always, I'm working on all the things and making progress in small chunks of time.what's going well?

Sounds like you can use my hat pattern, then. 🙂 Feel free to browse my other patterns, too. Everything I sell via Ravelry is eligible.
I just mentioned the in-store-sales as a reference to pricing. If you sell a pattern of mine with your club, you could add in the in-store-sale price and I'd give you gift codes to put in your pattern packages or…[Read more] -

Working on: Details for yarn club. I've changed ideas a bit for the initial yarn club (which I posted about in the thread where I asked for suggestions). I've also been working on updating and adding to the content on the Round Table Yarns website. One thing I did was record a video for the About page. I also added a listing of all the blog posts…[Read more]

Thanks so much for the patterns suggestions, @corrina357221 and @tanja467710! I'll probably really start working on getting the pattern recommendations together after the holidays, but I've made a note of these already. 🙂

Thanks, @tanja467710! I'm thinking that the patterns I use will just be suggested patterns for what could be done with the yarn, so there wouldn't be any need to list my yarn on the pattern page or description on Ravelry. I definitely wouldn't want you to go against your agreement with The Plucky Knitter!
And I totally use the in-store sales…[Read more]

Sasha, I sent you a reply via email but wanted to reiterate a few things here (for the thread):
-your sustainable merino fingering seems like a perfect yarn choice!
-yarn is lovely, and I agree with Kimberley on the flimmers of color 🙂
-original used 800yds, so two skeins should do it
-if you are feeling overwhelmed by this at any point, let me…[Read more] -

You are totally speaking to me! I love your baby metaphor. As far as my children go, I have always gone my “gut” and did what I felt was right and not what anyone else thought.
Things have been going well lately and I have been really busy so I have not been “trying”. After reading your post, it has made me realize that it is because I have…[Read more]
