Hi! I'm Kimberley!
Like many of the pre-existing Captains, this is an amalgam of my original intro with updates!
I'm very excited to be part of this. I still can't quite believe I made it in. I first heard of Tara on CraftLit when Market Yourself was on preorder. I bought the pdf version of the book immediately but didn't read it completely…[Read more]

There are so many details in setting up a yarn club — I hope it is fun, too!
Maybe a short list of recommended patterns would be nice for your customers and not cost you anything but checking which patterns work well with your yarns.
I can give you a pattern for free to include with your shipments, too, but if you want to change that in the…[Read more] -

Hello, my name is Jane and I am addicted to biscuits.
Now that I have got that off my chest what else can I tell you about me? I am a full-time knit designer, most of my work is published in the UK knitting magazines. I am just starting out on my journey into self publishing my work with an end goal of getting a book out there. But I am…[Read more]

The only other discussion board that I frequent is KBoards and it does has the ability to remember what I've read and jump to the last unread post. But it looks like it was created using Simple Machines Forum, so that's a different system.

You've gotten some good advice so far, but I wanted to chime in with a *hug* and support.
You know you've done nothing wrong. Cut this person out of your life, but don't let her comments (the same ribbon color? Really?) affect your designs or the other people or communities you interact with.

Excellent! I'm happy to promote your hat pattern as an option for one of the club shipments.
And now I understand what you're saying about the in-store sales program. I'd rather not get into buying patterns to distribute to club members right now, but that is an option I might keep in mind for the future.
And @tara Thanks so much for the link.…[Read more]

Hmmm…I'm going to have to take a look at this book.
The concept of honoring an idea right away is one of the big reasons I'm here. I am transitioning the balance of my business to less custom work. I won't stop it because I enjoy it and it's often a source of artistic challenge and creative growth. That part is rewarding. The flip side is my…[Read more]

This kind of thing comes up A LOT in jewelry circles. It's a matter of constant debate. It's especially tricky with cleaner designs and visually simpler construction even though can be harder technically, less places to hide 🙂 because there's only so many ways one can put a unique spin on a simpler construction. I just glanced at your…[Read more]

@Tara, the only other forum I frequent is using it: http://www.handarbeitsfrau.de I have no idea about the technical details, though, it just makes reading a forum a lot easier.

I'm so sorry you're having to go through this! Clearly this woman has some issues if she thinks a ribbon color is particularly unique to her. I once had someone accuse me of plagiarism because I had a cat in a story named the same thing as a cat in her friend's story — as if two cats have never had the same name in all of fiction! Some people…[Read more]
