How many North Stars do you have?
To check whether they really are your Stars or just some means to an end, ask yourself why: Why do you want to self publish? Is that a goal in itself? Is there some other motivation behind it? Why do you want to collaborate? Why do you want to plan?

I finished CYS yesterday, and for the first time ever I worked my way through the whole thing. It was such a clarifying process for me. I'm making good progress on CYS. I've determined that my north stars are focus, confidence and patience. In the past I didn't really have a clear direction for my business and was all over the place.
