My North Star is “Limitless”
2015 was “Fearless Growth” and I hit all my goals for social media growth, but what I realised is that doing so and being successful scared me and made me self-sabatoge (by that I mean it made me want to stop doing the things I was doing to gain success. So for example, I was periscoping Monday-Friday for about 2…[Read more]

In rereading my post I didn't put in my big goals:
1. Writing my book
2. Continuing and expanding my social media efforts (and making them easier and more effective)
3. Writing classes and finding venue to teach. Classes need to support my book or be useful for marketing. -

@tanja-osswald, you have helped me see it over the past months of accountability partnership. When I started to follow that impulse in CYS, I understood what I was doing! Thank you.

I was able to see how I tend to pile on instead of being happy with what I have done.
Love that!
You do excellent work and you deserve to relish in that! -

Thank you Clare. Just checked and “Knot Just Crochet ” is not available on Facebook which is a big one for me. My other alternate ideas- Knot Just Yarn or Knot Just Creations are also not available in one or more of my main platforms- Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Etsy and Instagram. Any other suggestions – we want to do something with Knot Just…[Read more]

@lesley-austin, I love that your husband is getting in on your North Star. It is so nice to have that support. I came home last night from TNNA and as I told Mitch what I had done (all networking, nothing concrete), it felt really supportive when he said that I had had a successful show because I got what I needed to get done, done.
And he's…[Read more]

I finished CYS on the plane home last night. I'm still struggling with how I am going to get the time I seek out of my schedule, but I am looking carefully at what more I can let go.
My North Star was clear from the beginning. It is Bold/Boldness.
One of the things that seemed different this time was that I was able to see how I tend to pile…[Read more]

@lesley-austin, I think Tanja set out what I would have said, in a much clearer way!
@clare-devine, that seems to be my process too–partly because I rarely have sufficient time to do the thinking at that moment.

I listen to Woolful, Dear Handmade Life, The Biz Chix Podcast, Biz Women Rock, Homesteady, and Farmer-to-Farmer. I also have Marc Maron's WTF because he is hilarious and crass and heartfelt, and it's nice to have something non-biz to listen too.

I'm struggling to decide on a goal for my map this time. Last time I just set a financial goal. I know the winter months are always slow for me money wise since there are usually no markets to sell at until mid March. The goals I'm considering are: rebranding of my business, working on my book proposal idea , preparing for CGOA conference in July,…[Read more]

My destination is ‘in three months I will have earned £1800'. It's the first time I've had such a specific financial goal and I am very motivated by it.
My mile markers:
1. Accepted at I Knit Fandango
2. Made £200 in January
3. Made £300 in February
4. Made £1300 in March
5. Launched bag club number 2 (theme: cats and dogs)
6. Launched jam in…[Read more] -

I listed my destination above, but to build on my last post, I aim to do two trunk shows at MA toy shops in order to gauge interest in my new product line, create connections with retailers and build audience by end of 1Q2016 (might give myself one more week depending on how the timing of the events works out).
My mile markers are:
1 – product…[Read more] -

I listen to podcasts on the drive to and from my day job and I often have them playing in the background while I make.
I'm sure lots of you do the same so I thought we should get a list going. Share the podcasts you're listening to in the comments!
These are my favs for business advice and interviews with crafty business owners…

My quarter 1 goal is to publish/release my “Coffee With C.C. – A 7 Pattern Caffeine Inspired Knitting Collection” book.
I've been working on this book since late Summer 2015, so my mile markers are starting at the point I'm currently at versus the very start of creating the book.
Mile Markers:
1. Start pre-orders
2. Book layout complete
3.…[Read more] -

I am also going through the process of working out the details of a rebrand. I think it is useful to have the same cohesive branding everywhere so that customers see the same message each time they find you.
On the website subject – I think having a website is helpful but if you find you do not need it as most of your sales are done through…[Read more]

Really glad to hear it can be done. I have spent the last 4 days away from the little one (bizarre experience, I forgot how quiet the world can be!).
I have a big list of dream and one of them is a website / social media overhaul so sorting my newsletter is on the list.
Do you use Mailchimp? Did you find some good tutorials for all this stuff?…[Read more]
