Today I reached a mini goal (create connections within the community/industry) and a mile marker (advertize) by sponsoring an episode of my very favorite podcast. It took me months to find the courage to reach out to even inquire about sponsorship — on top of it being a pretty large stretch for my budget. But since the episode dropped, I've…[Read more]

Corrina Ferguson replied to the topic email lists (MailChimp vs. ConvertKit vs. whatever else comes along) in the forum Engineering 9 years, 7 months ago
I started with mailchimp and didn't really do much with it – only used the free. I switched to ConvertKit at the end of the year and I'm really happy with it. Immediately when I set it up I was able to set-up an autoresponder which delivered the free pattern set that folks get when they join the list. The forms look great on my site. I can have…[Read more]

Congratulations, @isabel-mckay, on finishing Chart Your Stars! Sometimes we just need some time away from the tools for the answers to come to us. I'm glad you're back and can't wait to see your business unfold!

@jane-dolan @jill-wolcott I should be joining you, schedules etc willing. I'm seeing Holly today, too, since she's on my side of the bay – we're going to the cat cafe in Oakland. Meow!

Tanja Osswald started the topic Pricing an Ebook in the forum Engineering 9 years, 7 months ago
Over the last year, I published four patterns with the same yarn, same stitch pattern, same name (Heatwave mitts, cowl, shawl, and hat). From the start, I've been toying with the idea to publish them as an Ebook on Ravelry. That's pretty easy; I don't even have to make them into one pdf but can make them a collection you can buy together.
What I…[Read more] -

Thanks, @tanja-osswald. You wrote “A and B have a touch of neglect for the unloved yarns.” Yeah, that’s what I was afraid of. I don’t want to give off that feeling, but I know I can’t sustain treating all bases exactly the same. So perhaps C allows for a bit of a middle ground (a balance, if you will).
@karen-whooley – First off, I love the ne…[Read more]

Tanja Osswald replied to the topic Creative Team Call??? in the forum Engineering 9 years, 7 months ago
I agree with @alex-collins: Committing for a whole year is quite a lot to ask. What about for two consecutive months? If you get enough participants, you can have two designers each month, maybe alternating (A gets March only, B March and April, C April and May and so on — that way, people can get hooked on one designer, learn about the next and…[Read more]

Alex Collins replied to the topic A Shift in Focus from Designing to Dyeing in the forum Engineering 9 years, 7 months ago
Hey Karen, do you really need to cut ties with the other bases? I would try doing a show focusing on your best sellers in larger quantities. If someone specifically asks about a base, take their details and contact them after the show about doing a custom order but just as an experiment give option A a go. If you think you lost out sales because…[Read more]

Alex Collins replied to the topic Creative Team Call??? in the forum Engineering 9 years, 7 months ago
You could reach out to people who are regularly posting tutourials already to see if they would like to do a post using your product in exchange for the supplies. I think that seems like a fairer trade than asking 1 person to do 12 projects only for promotion and supplies unless you will drive tons of traffic to their site.
If you found 12…[Read more]

Alex Collins replied to the topic Contacting Etsy customers? in the forum Engineering 9 years, 7 months ago
@lesley-austin there is a podcast about this on Launch, Grow, Joy… http://launchgrowjoy.libsyn.com/053-michele-gallagher
I think you are right that you can't contact old customers but it discusses where you can put links and how to grow your list going forward. I hope it helps!
