You got so many good replies here I just want to say: Yay!
And also: I love that bit about focusing on the goal! -

So…I don't have a clear list of what is or isn't ok, because I tend to think that people who may copy/be inspired by my writing aren't going to check a list I made. It's a bit different for Kelly Rae, because she teaches OTHER artists how to do what she does via published instructions.
But yeah, if I saw someone else recreate or republished my…[Read more] -

I am starting to calculate metric measurements for my patterns. If I get a number like 6.985, do you round up to 7 or to 6.99? What about a number like 5.715? If someone who does this could point me to a resource that would be great.

Whatcha working on?
I am continuing my juggling act. You would think I would get better at it.What’s going well / on?
I’m still recovering from all the weekends away. The Craftsy summit was really good and I am so glad I went, but it is just adding to the busy.I am on top of my blog.
I created a new, better product page for my Craftsy cla…[Read more]

what are you working on? All the things. Still need to finish my q1 map (after shoveling out the driveway on Sunday I fell asleep) but I've already worked through at least a mile marker!
what's going well? Things are progressing nicely on all project fronts & my systems are still doing well. I had a hiccup last night/this morning to getting…[Read more]

Working on: Last push for sign ups for yarn club. Lots of yarn dyeing. Getting all the details for the first yarn club shipment finalized.
Going well: I'm just one person away from my personal goal of how many people I wanted to sign up for the yarn club. I'm really hoping that just one more person signs up so I can actually reach that goal, but…[Read more]

I'm not going to make it to chat tonight. The Hubs presented a paper at a conference today (he's a PhD student in case you didn't know that) and Dami and I went to hear him. This meant that our normal podcast recording schedule for today got thrown off by several hours which means I'm not going to make it to chat.
Going well: We've got a date and…[Read more]

I just found (via Craft Industry Aliance) this blog post: http://kellyraeroberts.blogspot.de/2009/03/what-is-and-is-not-okay.html
It addresses an issue most of will have encountered: How to deal with copycats.
It is a rather touchy topic, all those unthinking (or intentional) stealing of ideas. On the other hand, we all have inspirations in our…[Read more] -

Check-in time!
Working on patterns, mainly. I have an interview to submit by Sunday. Decided I'll just give them the link to my website and have all February to get that started.
Still waiting for my book proofs.
Today, I'll shoot some photo tutorials, including two new cable patterns.
Besides, I'm collecting willing testers and am struggling a…[Read more] -

@grace-shalom-hopkins When you write a post, there is a little box under the text field “Notify me of follow-up replies via email”. You can check that.
Alternatively, you can subscribe to a thread near the top of each page. Just click the pink word. -

Thank you, @grace-shalom-hopkins! It is interesting to see price calculations done from the other side, i.e. starting with the book price.
Great that your alternatives all drive up the sales!
Makes me think about adding a cabled-mitten bundle… -

Just in case I nap through chat tomorrow…
Going well/working on: recovery! My wisdom teeth came out this morning, and I have been taking painkillers dilligently, napping, and eating soft things. The surgery itself went well, I've had really minimal pain and discomfort so far, and I am hopeful for a smooth healing process.
Besides that, my one…[Read more]

This might have already been asked (sorry!) but how can I turn on emails for when people reply to my thread or a thread I commented on? I get emails if I've been tagged, but I feel like I am always one step behind without the old email system 😛

My ebooks contain 10-12 techniques “patterns” for handspinning and they all sell for $25 a pop. I do bundle them together but I do not dock the price in the bundle. So BATT and ROVING together are $50, or apart they are $25 and $25.
The recipes individually are $5 a piece. Which means if you bought the entire bundle individually you would be…[Read more]

@karen-lepage Yay! I missed you too! This truly is my crafty home 🙂 Gush gush 😛
Yes!
I have video demos for most of the techniques in my books up on youtube set to music. I've been thinking of making a course style option where there are demo videos with voice over. But at this point I think that's about the most I can expand upon them. I…[Read more]

We sheep people love our sheep things!
Especially sort of Kawaii stuff because most of us are multi-geek anyway 😛
There are around 200 breeds, but some of them are so obscure you could leave them until later. I second the Fleece and Fiber Source-book. It's THE guidebook for sheep breeds, hands down.
Side note, because I was listening to The…[Read more]
