Tanja Osswald replied to the topic Adding Metric Measurements in the forum Ten Forward 9 years, 6 months ago
I round up or down, and I think there's not much else you could do. A .5 measurement is okay now and then, for inches, I sometimes use .25, too.
Remember, when you measure your sample, it almost never fits inches exactly. You get 33 and a tiny bit of a stitch on 4 inches and you just neglect the tiny bit. -

Reading the list of what is going well, @jill-wolcott, I think you are an excellent juggler!
Will that yarn show be the H&H in Cologne? A pity I cannot got this year since the book fair in Leipzig is at the same weekend. -

@lesley-austin love your game board and game tokens for your mile markers. And the mini-me 🙂

In chat today I asked about inspiration cards with my business card on the back side.
I made 25 different cards and placed my order with moo cards this evening.
Feels great to have that off my list of to do's.
Thanks for the push to get it done everyone.

What's going well: I finished my map and for the first time since doing this, I feel like I have a very solid plan to meet my 1st quarter goal. I also have two designs finished and in various stages of the pattern writing process, and one more design ready to come off the needles. I'm also working on a project with an indie yarn dyer, and I'm…[Read more]

Great idea! (I'll get in line for a tote bag or stationary!) 🙂
Here's my go-to resource for when I need to look up sheep breeds and fleece characteristics (usually when some yummy-looking online fleece I haven't tried is giving a come-hither look). There's pics on all/most of them.

What's going well? Map making is complete!
What I'm working on? I have a new eye abrasion today so just crocheting and knitting as my vision is blurry in my left eye again! I don't know that I will be able to do much other than make samples and dictate book entries until it heals. (For our newer captains, I have an eye disorder that causes…[Read more]

tara replied to the topic Contacting Etsy customers? in the forum Engineering 9 years, 6 months ago
You got some good answer, so now let's talk about community!
Think through WHAT you want the community to DO for members. Do you want it to inspire them? (Then invite them to share how they use it) DO you want it to educate them? (then plan to include some lessons).
The easiest way to create a free community is via Instagram hashtag. Then just…[Read more]

1. I don't think having the two names in your Etsy shop is confusing and you don't HAVE to change the etsy domain if you're still on the fence. Perhaps give it another 3 months? Keep calling it Round Table Yarns, and maybe even using that name when you link to it (ie, refer to it ONLY as roundtable yarns, and no one will notice that the Etsy URL…[Read more]

tara replied to the topic Creative Team Call??? in the forum Engineering 9 years, 6 months ago
I know Design Teams are super-common in the papercrafting world, exactly how you set it up! So a big “this is totally normal in this world”!
But the reason people do it is because of what a big company can offer: exposure to a REALLY big audience.
Since that's not what you have (yet!), I like the suggestion of reaching out to people and asking…[Read more] -

AMY! I am so glad you started this thread! It is so important to acknowledge this gap and the PAIN of it.
And @shannon-chomanczuk, I'm glad you explained it all more fully here!
After the chat I was feeling a bit unhappy with my own reply, which felt like saying “oh, you'll figure it out”. But of course it's so much more complicated than that!…[Read more] -

Thanks Tara for your comments on the call yesterday. Although I don't have and really “businessey” accomplishments right now I realize the things I am working on are in line with my “stars”.
going well: Cleared & set up a huge studio in the basement for under $100 and have started doing new larger work there. Its the first space I've had that is…[Read more] - Load More
