That's awesome @libby-jonson! Way to go!
I also did something! I started on another mile marker (build a Greenhouse). Truthfully, I had this as a mile marker because I really find it essential for many of my goals, but I honestly didn't think I'd have the time or money this winter to accomplish it. But the hubby and I had our business meeting…[Read more]

I'm so happy to see this thread and the responses thus far. I was recently approached by an aspiring LYS owner. She is planning to open in the fall and has asked if I was interested in a trunk show -which I am- but I had no idea how that arrangement sometimes works. Thanks for all this info!

I'm happy to report that the meeting went well. Or as well as I could have hoped. It was much longer than I had planned (2 hours instead of 1) and it bounced around a bit but we covered every topic that was on my list.
I had every intention of giving you all the play-by-play but the truth is, after the meeting, after thinking about it all…[Read more]

I think your trunk show terms should be determined by your goals. For example – Yarn Love is about 95% wholesale. For the last year or so, I'm generally booked 2-6 months out. I offer trunk show terms designed to support my shops, and essentially rocket boost sales for them.
My trunk show terms are:
* 1 trunk show per year, per retailer

I'm feeling pretty stoked because I've just had my most successful pattern release yet. It's not actually my highest ever sales but I'm hitting my regular recent shawl release numbers with a hat which makes me pretty excited because so far my hat patterns haven't been half as popular as shawls/wraps etc. So I see it as an upward trend 😉
I've…[Read more]

@alex-collins I am really struggling with my books. Partly because I just loathe it – and I don't loathe much – but this makes my head want to explode. And, partly because the whole palaver of earning $US (plus a little $NZ sometimes) and spending both $US & $NZ – is just too yuck.
I am currently using wave. I've heard it recommended in fibre…[Read more]

Wow Jill you have been busy! I am glad you reached out about your blog as it is one of my goals this year.
I don't envy you having to prepare for putting your house on the market. My hubby and I moved from Oklahome to North Carolina for his job last year so I will happily help you indulge in your denial about having to pack up your home! 🙂 -

Jill, thanks for reaching out to me. I would love the November slot if it is still available. It would be good timing for my paper mache pet ornaments that will be going back in my shop in November.

Whoo hoo @krista-benskin.
For myself: I posted my February blog interview with Varian Brandon today. I think I still have room in late 2016, but check here. You do not need to be a yarnie. I'm also happy to put you into 2017 if it fits with your schedule better. The current schedule is in the last post.
Today I got some printed patterns all…[Read more]

I am so excited to have made such progress in such a short period of time since joining the Starship Community. I have so very appreciated the support you ladies(and Bill) have given me. I wanted to share my excitement by letting you all know I got my first collection of the year launched in my Etsy shop. Below are some pictures of my latest…[Read more]

I use FreshBooks for everything – I can even take a picture of a receipt and attach it to a client or project right when I get it so I don't have to save any papers. It has a timer built in, that I use to assign work hour bursts to specific clients (helps with focus and pricing, since I know exactly how much time I spend). I can send invoices…[Read more]
