Asia-Pacific seems to be the best overseas printer. It is who Hunter Hammersen uses. There are a couple of North America resources, but I'll have to dig out the info. If I've not given it to you by next week, please remind me.
I think you've probably got a lot of information from your experience being published by someone else. I would just…[Read more]

As for printers, I used IngramSpark for my book. I was happy with the quality (you have a copy, don't you? if so, then you can see it as an example) and price.

I know I have the tech skills at least! I worry a lot about who to have print and quantities. I used create space before, but I am seeing more and more being printed overseas. That is my concern at this point. Id love to use createspace, but the cost prohibits wholesale and keeping the book in any decent price range.
Do you have any thoughts @j…[Read more]

Karen,
I'm a member of Cat Bordhi's group–but we aren't meeting anymore. That said, I've only ever self-published (once, 10 years ago) and I don't think there is that much different in terms of expectations of the author. Obviously you have to put together your own marketing, and decide on printing, etc., but you could totally do it. -

Hi All,
If you were in chat a couple of weeks ago, you know I was waiting to a contract to arrive that week. Well, I did get it, and after a week of reading it and having my attorney read it and discussion with her and my hubby, I just turned it down. 🙁 Actually all in all that is a good thing for me. I would have been in the hole for 3 years…[Read more]

So happy that you started this thread! Currently my one wholesale yarn shop that is here in my town has asked me to set up a table for a few hours this weekend during the opening weekend of the annual yarn crawl here in Indiana. Thanks for sharing all this useful info!

The least expensive parts of West Virginia, most definitely do not have ethnic food, probably struggle to get reliable clean drinking water, and usually don't have access to high-speed internet. I love my home state, but great googly-moogly do we have big problems. Certain parts of WV are quite nice–Huntington, Charleston, Lewisburg (super little…[Read more]

What is a yarn retreat? What do you do there? Is it about buying yarn, dying yarn, making yarn…?

Thanks for your insights @daisy-forster I love hearing success stories! I'm on Day 4 now. I woke up for the first day since starting without a migraine. So that's already positive. I really hope that this is as hopeful for me as it has been for you!

I've always thought a straw bale construction project would be fun. Not for me, but sounds good for Rob!
When we looked at where we could live that met our criteria, there weren't that many places that appealed to us. It makes the choice easier! One of the things suggested for retirees (the only context I've done this in) is to look as close to…[Read more]

Thank you Grace! At this time, $500 is more than I could afford to spend. I want to go to the CGOA Conference in July, so I'm saving for that now. Seems like I need to go to a paid version of Weebly to use the domains I purchased from GoDaddy. I can't even find the domain names on GoDaddy even though I purchased them- my account only shows the…[Read more]

Yeah I lived in Fort Leonard Wood, MO which is rural MO by the Ozarks and it sucked. I hated it. I thought I hated confederate flags and racist white people before I lived there for 2 years, now I REALLY don't like them. It's super inconvenient to have to leave a store because some doofus comes in open carry with a shirt that reads “white…[Read more]
