Thanks @kimberley-bridgwater!
Thanks @katie-franceschi! Because I have such severe health issues (fibromyalgia, PCOS, thyroid disease, migraines, just to name a few), from what I've read, I'll need to stick with the very strict rules for awhile to allow my body to heal. I'm thinking probably at least 60 days and maybe 90 days before I can try to…[Read more]

I've decided to self publish my book because very thought of doing the rejection dance with another publisher or even an agent was sucking the joy out of the project for me. I've got a map and a good team in place. The only missing piece is money. I need about $2500 in capital upfront, so I believe I need to launch a crowdfunding campaign.…[Read more]

Just released a new self published pattern. I also redid my pattern layout with my new business name and logo.

Rob said if I get a long heavy duty extension cord, he'll screw hooks along the ceiling edge of the kitchen to hold the cord up off the floor. So another circuit and no tripping over cords. Ta da!

Wow. I'm stunned. I just saw this.
V will be missed. She was always so on the ball with everything and shimmered with enthusiasm for what she did!

This is the beginning of my last month on the Starship – so I wanted to record how it went!
What stood out about February were the physical constraints imposed by icy roads and windy weather, and the spiritual freedom that came from following my heart into new creative territory. I wrote about the creative part here and the constrained part here.…[Read more]

I changed the sidebar to some lighter hue of the background color. And I guess I have to think about other color choices some more. It still is all rather purple but more calm, I hope.
Thanks again for your input! -

Oh dear, migraines are a tough way of your body telling you that you should stop.
What about other job options that do not imply you working for someone else? Like, writing a book about dyeing? You said you don't feel comfortable teaching but maybe make a series of craft videos? -

I do not want to work for anyone else again ever. The last job I had, I was missing work half the time (not an exaggeration) because I was having so many migraines. No. Just no.
I can't really see myself doing anything else. This has to work. So I have to find a way to make it work.

@tanja-osswald I think the problem for me is that you have so many colors that are kind of the same, but the difference is jarring.
1) the larger background
2) the bar (which looks like a gradient of the background, but lighter
3) then a really different lilac behind Comet, which has an even darker version of the background behind it.Is Comet a…[Read more]

@riin-gill, I love your colors and I'd love your yarn to be sold all around the world – but if numbers keep telling you you are losing money on your business, do you have other options? Like, cutting down on dying and having a side job? Or doing something else entirely?
And which of them does your heart favor? It might be worth to actually invest…[Read more] -

Thanks, @jill-wolcott! Do you think a white background would work better? I like the color a lot but it need not be oppressive, of course.

Riin Gill replied to the topic I'm afraid I might be screwed in the forum Engineering 9 years, 5 months ago
Yeah, that definitely wouldn't be a long term solution.

I think the really long extension cord might be a short-term solution. 😉 Seriously, I have to do that to run both my iron and my vacuum table at the same time.

I plugged a bunch of new numbers into my spreadsheets to account for bulk pricing, raising prices as much as I really can get away with, cutting expenses as much as possible, and I still fell short. The only thing that filled the gap was when I increased the number of skeins dyed per day.
So either I need to find someone to do some electrical…[Read more]
