@lisa-check, that would be fantastic! I would love to not have to pay for a hotel! I do need to verify that you have a non-smoking household (I have asthma)? I will put you down on the name badge list!
@jill-wolcott, I was just looking at your grading class! Part of me wants to take it, but part of me remembers last year when we didn't have…[Read more]

Hi New Friends 🙂
My name is Dana and I am a knitwear designer and tech editor with a fetish for designing socks! I self published my first pattern in 2012 and have veeeerrrry sloooowly since then convinced myself to turn it into a business. When my mindset finally changed around 15 months ago I jumped in with both feet. I love self publishing…[Read more]

Howdy do!
I'm an co-owner of Atomic Fibers, a yarn and quilt shop in East Tennessee.
Mom of four and an recent empty nester (aka no kids at home) and I have one granddaughter. Been married over 28 years to a retired air force man. Been around the world – dad was retired air force as well – – and I'm a air force veteran myself.

I'm still new around here, yet I wanted to encourage you, Joeli and also say big hugs.
I enjoyed your content and agree with others I don't feel it was not all negative as perceived.
Remember people who won't work with you through a situation is their problem not yours and a reflection on who they are and not you.

Hi Riin,
I can commit to helping you set up. I'm local (about an hour North of DC. So if you need an inbetween place on the way or out of town, you are welcome to stay here as well. We can pm as it gets closer to coordinate times/etc. -

You've done great! Phoning probably made it a lot easier for her to realize that she has messed up, so she could not put the blame on you.
Will you send her yarn for a trunk show, nevertheless? -

I may be able to help. I will be at TNNA but I don't know when. I am bunking with a friend whose work allows me to stay with her for free. One year she was there only one night.
I'm also horrible at mornings but I think I can make that happen for you if I'm actually in town by then.

@katie-franceschi, major congrats on that phone call! You got clarity, created better understanding, and took the high road – that's a great outcome! But most of all, you took a step that would be difficult for many people – I know it would be for me, for sure – and made it work. Hats off!

I actually wrote a few replies and deleted them because I got a little intense, lol!
You are positive AND real online. You encourage people, you're honest, and you are not afraid to say your opinion. Not only does this organizer not “get” you but they took what you said in the exact opposite way it was intended.
Please don't stop being you…[Read more]

Thanks everyone! I appreciate your thoughts and your encouragement.
I actually ended up phoning her this afternoon -which was personally difficult (I avoid confrontation at all costs and detest disappointing people, so the call was a double whammy.) I explained as kindly as could how I just could not make her even due to scheduling – in terms…[Read more]

Sending hugs!
I can't add anything substantial, but I want to say that you need to be yourself on your platforms. People are following you and showing up and signing up BECAUSE you are YOU! Don't let her take that away from you. -

I agree with Tanja and Karen. I don't have anything of real value to add except to address the “Rather than pay your ouotlined….” I would affirm that in order to do an in-person event, you have a certain fee structure (whatever that is). I wonder where she got her 800 number. That seems suspect as well. Good luck…sending hugs for a tough situation!

First off, Tanja's suggestion about adding in a deadline for the trunk show skeins decision is excellent. It sounds like this person needs clear boundaries. So definitely add in the deadline.
Second, I'd take away the reference to the need for advance notice due to child care. I don't think it's any of her business why you need advance…[Read more]
