I'm going, too. BTW, I'd like to split a hotel room in Charleston. Anyone looking for a roommate?

That is good to know @c-c-almon about the time line with the files. And I am glad to hear that about the Print quality too. I am definitely switching over from CreateSpace.
I did print out the PDF and have taken a look at what they want. I will probably use InDesign just because I need to learn it anyway. Did you use Open Office to do the…[Read more]

@karen-whooley that is good to know. My class released end of June 2015, so 9 months. Oy. But I don't think I marketed well for the first 5 months. But now I feel I can work on proposals for new classes. Yay!

I know! I don't know what though–I've got pilates which isn't exactly a celebratory event. A martini seems nice, but Monday is a little early in the week for me! I tried breaking my website, but turned out I had just flipped a switch. but Yay me!

It will be @jill-wolcott. I hit 3200 with my first class in just under 2 years! Still working on my 2nd class to hit 1000! (4 months old)

Yay, @jill-wolcott, way to go! I hope you do celebrate with something special today, even if it's just an early martini. 😉

Thanks @karen-whooley. It feels huge–surely another 1,000 won't be as hard.

What a great way to think about that @Tara! I'm still determined to get the conversion tracking right next time but the views/sales ratio is a great value I can use when thinking about all other traffic sources like email and Instagram too.

The muppetflail has receded, and I managed to get the list checked off. It involved getting my books caught up (I love Excel, so I can add rows when I find something I forgot to record); getting a kit ready to mail out; taking and editing photos of yarn to put up in the online shop (temporary heart attack when they disappeared, but reappeared the…[Read more]

Hi Tanja, I don't grow my own dye plants, partly because I have a very small yard that isn't conducive to much gardening, and mostly because it takes a lot of plant material to get enough dyestock for large amounts of yarn. There's also some stuff that just doesn't grow in the northeast. I make some of my own extracts from dried materials, and use…[Read more]

I'm planning to be there-nothing specific yet, other than I'm staying with a friend in Canton and I'm pretty sure we'll watch the Kinetic Sculpture Race as it heads into the harbor Saturday. It's just down the block from her house. Then we go to the festival (after the morning rush…it works out really well!). A link to
Team Fifi. It's…[Read more] -

Thanks so much for your reply, Tara. I've heard of prettylinks before but haven't set them up–just have used the bitly links. I think I'm going to need to dig into figuring out goals in GA; I did set one up and it sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. I've definitely made the mistake of using the same bitly link for everything: Instagram, my blog,…[Read more]

Such a good quesiton!
The bit.ly link is an excellent way to go, but one I haven't really used 🙂
Somethings I have done:
For your newsletter, you can just look at your report: How many clicked through? And then how many bought?
Do you use WordPress? If so, there's a plug-in: PrettyLink. It lets me create links like “Taraswiger.com/map” that's…[Read more] -

So interesting, @terri! Thanks for sharing!
One way you can measure sales (indirectly) – how many visits/pageviews do you need for one sale? Then you can figure that X clicks = 1 purchase. (of course different traffic behaves differently, but this can give you an idea). So if you have 300 pageviews (on a specific sales page) for 1 sale, then you…[Read more] -

I answered this in chat, but wanted to post it here too, in case anyone was wondering.
The workshops Susan is referring to: http://www.crochet.org/page/2016KCSEvents (scroll down for “professional workshop”). The first half of that class (about an hour and a half) will be about creating your best workday. This is some of what's covered in Wrangle…[Read more] - Load More
