Riin Gill started the topic Shipping large stuff from UK to US in the forum Engineering 9 years, 1 month ago
Does anyone have any experience having large packages (200-500kg) shipped from the UK to the US? I've been looking into buying combed top from a mill in the UK, but they don't usually ship to the US. The shipping estimates they gave me are for DSV, but she said they'd be happy to work with another courier if I could recommend someone more cost…[Read more]

I just finished my month-end bookkeeping and realized that my Q1 income for 2016 is more than double my Q1 income in 2015 🙂 I am very happy!

I’m on the horns of a dilemma. I have been submitting patterns for publication mostly to Love of Knitting (but that editor left and I’m no longer as enthusiastic). So I’ve been looking at other things to get cash flow.
I just looked at an RFP from a yarn company and the terms are just crap: Royalties on patterns sales, tech editing and photo…[Read more]

@sasha-torres & @jill-wolcott I did take it – and I really enjoyed it! Improving my Instagram presence was part of either my Q4 2015 or Q1 2016 map goals….it may have actually straddled the line between. But anyway it was a sub goal for me as I was headed off to Stitches West with a lot of stock and since I'm located in the MidWest it was also a…[Read more]

Sasha, it does seem expensive, but @katie-franceschi took it so maybe she'll chime in. I think it would be totally worth it for yarn–I'm kind of tempted to do it as Instagram is so much easier than the other platforms for me.

@christie-minchew I am always torn between growing up and not! At least it has gotten so much easier to live with myself. Have a great weekend.

Hi, all–
Tara has mentioned a couple of times on the podcast that there are some captains who have taken Caitlin Bacher's Instagram course. I did a quick search this a.m. and couldn't find any discussion of it here in the forums.
If you've taken the course, I'd love to know what you think about it, as I'm considering taking it.
Also, if you…[Read more]

Sounds like she made that decision about as easy as she could…too bad with all negative incentives. Great decision and now on to the many other positives on your list!

Does anyone know anything about how to set up “goals” in Google Analytics to track conversions? I feel like I need a class (hint, hint, @tara) about how to gather actual data so that I know which of my marketing efforts are working. Right now I track my monthly sessions, page views and referral traffic, but I don't know how to figure out how that…[Read more]

I just wanted to update you guys — thanks to all the support that I received, I contacted the organiser and pulled out of the panel. The last straw was that we finally discussed money and the speaker fee was so low that I would be out of pocket by a significant amount. And I just thought “why am I doing this? I'm going pay money to go speak at an…[Read more]

Thanks to Whole30 I had to buy new yoga pants today (new ones are on top of the old size).

@christie-minchew This reminded me of what a state I was in when I joined the Starship. I am so hard on myself, and so disappointed in myself for not being able to make this a financially viable business–even though I don't even value that. It just makes me feel so out of step with the rest of the world. Not sure why I would expect anything else,…[Read more]

@mary-roth I'm so glad that you're finding your way, moving forward…moving! It really sounds like you are making changes and taking action (even if it doesn't seem that way to you or you don't feel it's enough or whatever). From an “outsider's” perspective, you do seem to be moving in a positive direction. Taking care of your health is, like…[Read more]
