My mile markers are a breakdown of my $20k turnover goal by the end of June. So $2k, 4k etc… Very simple. I've worked out I need to turnover $330 a day to meet my goal.

So this morning, a fellow dyer (who is experiencing a fair degree of success-great turnout at shows, wholesale deals, the works) made what I feel were some pretty snarky remarks about cross-platform posting. That is, the automatic reposting, for example from InstaGram to Facebook to Twitter, with the accompanying hashtags. In this dyer's opinion,…[Read more]

I gave my first printed-press-interview on Sunday! It was spontaneous since it was on a knit meeting (and the article is mostly about that). Instead of dying, crying, sweating and feeling awful allover, we just had a short nice chat, she browsed through my book – and now, about a quarter of the text is about me. 🙂
Here's the link to the online…[Read more] -

Finished day one!
I admit thinking about my feelings at the end was challenging, yet insightful.
This quarter is all geared up to have a very successful yarn crawl in June, with sales over $20,000 in 12 days (with yarn related products), 750 new customers in our database and 3 new teachers.
We also have another shop hop style event starting…[Read more]

I'm just about to start my first map…on the verge of having all my stars charted. My head is spinning a little, but I think I'm getting the hang of it. 🙂

My goal this quarter is to self-publish a paperback copy of my creative retreat workbook. I'll be finishing up the illustrations, writing, and design, and am aiming to have it to my editor by the end of April. May will be editing along with mocking up the pre-release schedule, and June will be sending it to Ingram Spark and getting it printed. Of…[Read more]

@jill-wolcott This might be a case of all-or-nothing, but I think that on the exercise/movement front, I might actually have a better time of sticking with it if it's something I do every day (or at least every work day). If the next week or two doesn't go well (in that the amount of exercise really is too much, not just that I'm complaining about…[Read more]

Just finished Day one!
I want to make more sales across all of my social media! I am measuring this by # of Items sold and income. I am going to use Bit.ly links to help me measure what is working and what isnt.
I am hoping to get better with my social media and hone it to a point where I am doing what I need to do to gain my sales targets and…[Read more]

@mary-roth, Jill has an excellent list, but maybe something more basic: Is your bedroom quiet (no noise from outside) and dark (some people prefer total darkness, I like a little bit of light filtering through the windows so I don't get desoriented)?
When I cannot sleep because my mind is reeling, it helps me to focus on my breathing and then…[Read more] -

assuming you have time to put this design into your schedule. . .
“Royalties on patterns sales, tech editing and photography, rights revert after 12 months, but you have to continue to use their yarn.”
Can you renegotiate the sticking points:
royalties vs one-time payment — Question, royalties for how long, just the 12 months or lifetime??…[Read more]

Hi everyone, I could really use your collective knowledge on this one. I'm launching my first self published book at the end of April here in the UK at WonderWool Wales.
‘Lazy Sunday' is a collection of five simply indulgent beaded socks to knit. The collection is worked in Eden Cottage Yarns and are all beaded using the crochet hook method.

@mary-roth, I think feeling like being productive is huge!
Do you think it might be better to start at 2 or three days a week for your strict schedule, then work up as you get the hang of it? I find I just resist too strict a schedule.
Sleep. As a life-long insomniac, you would think I would have a world of tricks. This is what works best for…[Read more]

Thanks for the great info @karen-whooley. Good to know all of that about Quick Books. I didn't really care for the online version. And I have a PC but would love to switch to a MAc, after that maybe I'll invest in the software.
Thanks! -

I'm so ready to actually feel productive again and be done with this stick-in-the-mud stuff, but I think I'm still missing the final few steps to get from here to there, from thinking-of-doing to actually-doing. Argh! Worked on reviewing March and have a big goal for map making today, and maybe once I get my giant list of tasks spit out on paper…[Read more]
