@jill-wolcott, Wow, on one hand it sounds very hard what you've been going through even if subtle. But also wow that you've come around to understanding it, sort of recognizing it for the ‘first' time, and then feeling in command. That's huge. I hope it's the beginning of a really positive ‘turn' for you.
@Everyone (!), I thought i'd also…[Read more]

Going Well:
I finished the knits and patterns for the Yarn Clubs I am doing patterns for over the next few months. yay! Glad that is off my plate! I just got the yarn for my Collection- which is my goal this Quarter, and my upcoming KAL. I'm ready to get it unpacked and organized!
The pieces that I did for publications last year, are all getting…[Read more] -

Hi Jane! Sounds like a cool book!
Not sure if this would work for you, but I've had a lot of luck with my books by doing trunk shows. Maybe you wouldn't want to ship one all the way to the US, but I've found it has really helped me with book sales. Basically what I do is I send out my trunk show to one shop. The shop keeps it for the month and…[Read more]

Ugh! I wrote a long reply last week that's not showing up!
The short version is: I've totally dealt with this. It sucks. As already suggested, just find the questions that make sense, and answer them.
If it truly becomes overwhelming or you decide you really don't want in her in your life, it's ok to set that boundary, too. You can say: I…[Read more]

Oh man, I typed out a long response last week and I just saw that it didn't post! Oy!
For starters, I have no contacts 🙂
But it's possible that @corrina-fergeson, @karen-whooley, @angelia-robinson @varian-brandon or @jen-lucas do!Perhaps @c-c-almon can suggest some other podcasters (she's one too!)
Also – you can post this in the “please…[Read more]

@laurinda-reddig I could do a book signing on THursday, if it doesn't go too late! (I'm driving home on THurs, but it's only a 5 hour drive, and I don't mind getting home late.)
I had no idea there were classes Wednesday night. When are they?

tara replied to the topic Teaching at two LYSs in the same town? in the forum Engineering 9 years ago
Yep, I agree with the responses you already got!
Although I teach at different kinds of places, i will often do 1-4 events in the same city…because I'm counting on the EVENT to bring the people. But if the LYS's are expecting YOU to bring YOUR audience, I can see why it would only make sense to do it at one shop. But if they each do the…[Read more] -

Yep, I want it too, @lea-ann-mcgregor and @katie-franceschi, but I would have to have more people tell me they found me from those sites before I do it. (I get a fair amount of traffic from twitter/FB/Pinterest, so it's worth posting there, but I don't know if it's worth the content repurposing)

I have had this problem, but since the app updated (a month or so ago), it hasn't been a problem.
So first, update the app, if it needs it 🙂
Then, start again.
If you get the error again, be sure to totally close the app (you know, like double tap until you see all open apps and swipe up).
For some reason, I had to open it, then close it, then…[Read more] -

Yep, @barbara-kish, that's generally what it means.
But they could have searched ANYTHING and found you. Like “handdyed yarn” or “barbara makes yarn” or something. Here's what Big Cartel says about it: https://help.bigcartel.com/basics/dashboard/#visitors
Perhaps it's showing you visitors for the last day, but the number of referrERS (as in,…[Read more]

@christie-minchew We could do a Charlotte meet-up next! I can't do any drives over an hour or so until August (between Maryland in May and the beach in…later May and Charleston in July and various launches).
But you guys can totally plan something in Charlotte before that, if you like!

Both those dates work for me, but I'd probably have to spend the night. Asheville is 4 hours away…which would make a one-day trip a little tricky for me (and @belinda-briggs maybe). any chance for Charlotte? Not sure if that works for the western and TN folks, though….

Maybe you can open with something like, “I don't really have time to read such long emails, but I did pick out a few relevant questions from you so here are those answers…” To make it clear that you are not going to entertain her long screeds, aren't reading the advice, and don't have time to hold her hand, while still sounding polite.

Thanks for you help.
She's emailed me over 20 times in less than a week. I haven't answered at since the emails I mentioned. I'm sure she's probably lonely or something like that and I feel horrible not responding, but it's also pretty overwhelming dealing with so many very long emails, a lot of which are unsolicited advice.
Within all those…[Read more]

Hi, the mystery yarn club consists of a skein (100g) of fingering weight yarn, and a couple of pattern choices (hand, but machine knit-able, which I could provide). The quantities for this go-round is only 10 skeins. Let me know if you have further questions. Lea-Ann
