@jill-wolcott No worries! I love hearing other opinions and am using this forum for a sounding board. I really do appreciate your thoughts – just trying to think through the whole set up in advance. Since it's new to me, I wanted to hear other people's experiences.

Whatcha workin on?
I'm trying to take it easy this week. I've got pneumonia. In other words, I have no choice but to take it easy. Rest is boring. How do people do it? I've done a little bit of work, but I get tired after about 1.5 hours and need to rest, but not necessarily sleep. Though I've slept a lot too.
I've decided not to do my spring…[Read more]

I arrive on Tues at 10AM (at least that is when I land at the airport!) I am available on Tues, or Wed nights for sure. I am also free Wednesday or Thursday morning for breakfast but I teach Thurs afternoon, All day Friday and Saturday. As a former board member, I kind of should be at any evening events But I am free to go to dinner after them!

(((Hugs))) I am so sorry for your loss. Take care of yourself. If you need time to grieve and watch Buffy, then that's what you need to do. Maybe set a date for a couple of weeks out and re-evaluate how you are feeling on that date.

@katie-franceschi then it is my mistake. Your structure seems fair.

@jill-wolcott & @grace-shalom-hopkins Thanks for your thoughts! One of the things that I'm struggling to align with your comments is that I'm not asking professional writers or experts to write for the newsletter. It's more of a sharing corner, pulled from my own customer base – people who love Yarn Love, not designers or writers. I suppose there…[Read more]

I'm just starting to work through CYM for the second time. Once again, I'm feeling confused about Chapter 1- Getting Started- Your Message. My business has two main parts- selling finished items at craft shows, and designing and publishing crochet patterns. My boil it down statement for my craft show side is_ I make a wide variety of crochet…[Read more]

Whatcha workin on?
I'm taking step photos this week (first batch on Monday, another is due today – and maybe another on Friday) so I can write up my softies patterns. What’s going well?
Taking step photos is rather fun, though I procrastinated on this. I'm getting better at setting the light system up myself (my husband is the photographer, so I…[Read more] -

First: Hugs! So sorry about your loss.
My worst burn-out business-wise was when I separated with my old publisher – or the months leading up to that. They had me do single patterns on short notice for a compilation book and making those just sucked. Those patterns still don't feel like I made them. I went back to writing patterns I want to…[Read more]

I agree here with @jill-wolcott.
I wrote twice for PLY and decided the $200 wasn't worth the weeks of my time it took to make the samples, write the content, photograph, edit, etc.
Grant I took on long term and large scale projects but I really couldn't justify it at the end. I felt really bummed too because I love being in PLY and seeing it…[Read more]
