I too use StitchMastery and love it. If Joeli or I can't help you, there's a Ravelry group that is great about answering questions about the program.
I used to do my patterns in Word but I now send them to my graphic designer who uses InDesign. I still make the charts in StitchMastery and send them to her.

I use Stitchmastery and it's what's used by many big publications.
What's giving you trouble? Maybe I can help.

I am starting to design more knitting patterns. I use Microsoft Word for the pattern write-ups. I love lace and have used both Microsoft Excel and Stitchmastery. I do like that Stitchmastery can give a draft of the written pattern – I think in charts and patterns. But sometimes the chart doesn't work as well as I would like.

@katie-franceschi I think our mistake was we were thinking of it as a professional outlet because when you posted here, and probably if you went on to post just like this to your blog, you didn't make it super clear who your target people where.
That's a great thing to identify and fix! At least in my opinion haha
If you get super clear about…[Read more]

Thank you Tara. I am more than happy to have people here. I actually think we could talk easier than in a restaurant.
May 21 if that is still ok. I had a conflict come up for the 14th.
I'll have some food and we can sit and talk and/or walk up to the peak and see the view. FYI…this is a walk on a road as opposed to a hike on a trail.
Does…[Read more]

Here is my recent Yarn Crawl shawl – Weeping Rock. I got the pattern written and up on Ravelry in time for the LA Yarn Crawl. I just got it to an editor so hopefully not too many errors.
I need to work on photography as well.

Hmm. I think the kind of marketing decisions it would help make is:
What keywords are people searching to find you? Use more of them!
What specific site is sending you traffic? How can you do more of what's working there?I don't know that just knowing the TYPE of traffic is nearly as useful as knowing what that traffic did to get to you…[Read more]
