I recently went back and redid my first two books. They were super outdated format wise and the editing was a touch dodgy.
I updated them and then announced it in my newsletter, shop announcement and all my social media.
Because I use Etsy I also had to manually send each previous buyer the new copy – so that was fun.
If I had to do it again…[Read more]

I think @susan-heyn it is time to make a marketing calendar and see all the mileage you can gat from each release or group release.

Thank you for your ideas @jill-wolcott and @kimberley-bridgwater. I know how to update the patterns and update the new file to Ravelry ,etc.I also have my patterns on Etsy and Craftsy. I think I have about 40 patterns to update ,so this will take a while to get done. I am thinking that I will try to come up with some more creative names and…[Read more]

@susan-heyn I have relaunched, rereleased patterns for several years. My patterns take quite an effort to reformat, so I've kind of been doing it as I feel like it or as it fits in. Currently doing a test knit of one that I resurrected because people heart it all the time. I'm talking about what I'm adding everywhere, plus got the testers, and…[Read more]

The patterns on Ravelry are easy. You can do it in your pro account and previous buyers will automatically get the updated patterns. That's what I did as I decided what format and brand I wanted when I first started designing. But that was only a few patterns before I decided on my layout.
I'm not sure elsewhere as I only sell on Ravelry and…[Read more]

I know people have multiple opt-ins and content upgrades (like in a blogpost saying get the worksheet by opting in – I think Tara does that) for opting in to newsletters.
Does anyone have any tips about the actual logistics of this? I'm using Mailchimp and it seems like I would have to have lots of lists, one for each opt-in.
Do I need to use a…[Read more]

I was watching one of Tara's Podcasts this morning- about being a knitwear designer and it got me thinking about a project I hope to tackle soon. When I rebranded my business earlier this year, changing my online name from Crafts & Tings to Knot Just Crocheted, I also redid my pattern template for my self published patterns. I had a lot of older…[Read more]

I've been contacted by guilds and events for raffle donations recently and I'm delighted to participate, since it's a small marketing cost to get right in front of *my* people. A few of them have been non-profits and have mentioned offers to send the request on their letterhead. Is this something I should be doing? I'm guessing this would tie into…[Read more]

@amy-crook this is such an awesome tale of fabulousness–even if you weren't intending it to be. I told one of my classes about it and the LOVED it. It was such a powerful example of connecting and how to build your people.
Yay!

No–@tanja-osswald that's why they stay for a month! Not everyone sees everything the first time–even if they are diligently looking. This is actually a great lesson for all of us who think that we should quit talking about things. They aren't actually being heard by the same people every time. And some people need the proverbial three times (or…[Read more]

I finished the workbook this week but am checking in here for our discussion/accountability for Ch. 5-6. Basically, I learned I have a lot of work to do! 🙂 But I think it will be a valuable resource to continue to revisit and tweak.
–For the worksheet on ‘what to listen for', I'm thinking that I am going to need to do a reader survey to really…[Read more] -

@c-c-almon and @tara so sad about your periods. I rarely ever had issues, and haven't had one for seven years (yay!). I just want to encourage you about being healthy for yourself.
