I just published Berlin Braids, a pair of fingerless gloves featuring a seven-stranded horizontal French braid. Horizontal cables are one of my specialities since I invented this technique.
Please share the news about the pattern on social media.

@jessica YAY! I'm so glad you pushed through and came up with your definition! So much easier to know see when you've reached it!
Also – I LOVE that you're going to use this with your kids! I think last summer @joeli-kelly made a Map with the goal of “family fun”, so her kids could see all that was planned for the summer (or something like that?) -

So last summer I parked a domain name with GoDaddy for two years (super-cheap), but haven't done anything with it otherwise. If I'm going to get into MailChimp and email lists and such, would this be a good time to start building an actual website to go with it? And if so, does anyone have a strong preference about hosts? There's certainly no lack…[Read more]

Yay for raising consignment percentages!
Andrea did ask about the date (it does not collide with her next class) and I told her several times that I'm certain their customer base does not overlap. I had asked her before I talked to the other LYS and she was not happy with the idea. But she'll live with it now.
About the funny: I have a reflex to…[Read more] -

::thumbs up::
I hemmed and hawed about talking to the owner of the store where I sell on consignment about changing the percentage I got on sales, and when I finally did, she said, “great! how much do you think it should be? I've been waiting for you to ask because I don't know much about this either!” Funny how things work out, eh?

Thanks @karen-whooley, this is exactly the kind of help I was looking for! I don't have a blog or newsletter, but am thinking of posting about each new release on Facebook and offering a coupon for a week for each pattern. Many of my designs are craft show type projects, so I am thinking of adding some info on tips for producing several items at a…[Read more]

When I do a re-release, I do them one at a time. I write a blog post about the intention of the pattern about a week before and then a week later Offer a $1.00 off the re-release to my blog readers and then $1.50 off to my newsletter subscribers. I also mention the sale in my ravelry group. (The $1 off) I feel that my newsletter deserves a bit…[Read more]

1. I am trying to recover from Spring Break and my hubs going out of town unexpectedly for a long period of time. I'm feeling lost and unsure of how to get back in the groove. I didn't reach 2 out of 3 target goals and I am currently trying to figure out what my next goal should be. They were to gain 2 more distributors and to find an art agent.…[Read more]

Hi @terri!
When you donate items, are a sole proprietor and you are in the USA, you cannot write off a charity as a business expense. Because I do this from time to time, is write off the product amount as a loss or reduction in inventory as an Owner Draw. Then I can use that as a personal charitable contribution on my Taxes.
I always get a…[Read more]

I'm right in the middle of this now! I'm writing/self-publishing two pattern book(let)s with Alison Glass, and In my experience (with Wiley and C&T) self-publishing is the exact same amount of work.
