@cindy-willingham I'm so glad it helped and you're remembering your goals! Yay!
@jennie-moraitis YAY for loving the monthly review! I also LOVE that you are finding the RIGHT metrics to track! I certainly don't track Twitter followers as I've found it irrelevant to my sales. But I do track referrers (in google analytics), so I can see what…[Read more]

Yeah, what you said re: legal name is exactly what I did! I had a Blonde Chicken Boutique DBA, but I just don't do business under it anymore. I still fill out sales tax forms for it, but on my income taxes, It's just all under my own name.

That's totally enough to have on your website! In Craft Your Marketing (or Chapter 4 of Market Yourself), I walk through the (VERY) few things you need on your site. That might be where you want to start (put Customer Path on hold – which I really wrote for people who had some of these pieces already in place – CYM is more from-scratch with your…[Read more]

Susan Heyn replied to the topic Re-releasing old patterns in the forum Engineering 9 years ago
Thanks Tara! I plan to work on getting several patterns ready to rerelease and then do one every week or two and talk about it on FB, Instagram , etc. Having a few ready to go before I start to do the rereleases will give me a cushion in case I don't get them done as quickly as I hope- I tend to be “Tech – Challenged” and get stuck doing things…[Read more]

So glad this worked out Ann! I think it makes sense to write an email draft now, for any future problems, so you don't have to think about it when you're stressed.
Something like:
Hello! I'm writing to check in on the overdue invoice, I know it's possible you just missed it! {link or attach invoice}. {And if for a custom piece:} I'm willing to…[Read more] -

@libby-jonson:
The thing on Periscope was a Q+A about the CLASS – answering potential student's questions about what's in the class.
The monthly “exclusive Q+A” is what we do every month – I answer questions from SS and LO members live on video (and this month some CYM students will also be able to attend). You get several emails about each one…[Read more] -

tara replied to the topic Re-releasing old patterns in the forum Engineering 9 years ago
Hey Susan! I just want to reiterate that you should DEFINITELY focus on doing one at a time! (You can do the work of updating them all at once, but just release one at a time!) That gives you a period of time (a week or two) to give that pattern loooots of love: you can talk about it several times on FB, pointing out different facets of it's…[Read more]

tara replied to the topic Multiple Newsletter Opt-Ins/Content Upgrades in the forum Engineering 9 years ago
What Jess said is exactly what I did until we moved to ConvertKit this year! CK has taken a BIG learning curve, but the payoff in subscribers has been AMAZING. My daily sign-ups (which is not necessarily new subscribers, as old subscribers can sign up to get new content upgrades, without punishment*) have went from 5/day to 10-20 per day (and on…[Read more]

YAY! I'm so glad the Q+A helped you re-think this! So awesome to see what you took from allllll that I said! 🙂
And congrats on the YouTube show and the awesome engagement! It's always kind of amazing when consistency yields results, right?
Just one note on all the places you could share: Think through how you can share each new piece of content,…[Read more] -

Hey Grace!
I'm not sure if you're still looking for feedback or if you've made the changes Karen suggested?
Here are a few things that jumped out to me:

I do think Jill + Grace make a great point about being CLEAR that you're hoping to hear from non-writers, non-professionals. Otherwise, the Craft Internet might turn against you for not paying fairly for content. (The Craft Internet loves to find examples of big companies not paying for content.) You're not a big company, and you're doing it as a…[Read more]

BIG HUGS, Sasha.
And also: A GIANT PERMISSION SLIP to take time off.
I love what @mary-roth said “do not listen to that voice saying you’re not doing enough or not being as awesome as everyone else and therefore should give it all up,”
THAT! and remember that by taking a break you are NOT giving up. And even if you DID decide to take an e…[Read more] -
tara replied to the topic Refunding Digital Products in the forum Engineering 9 years ago
Hey Jeannie – I've tried a few things: a no refund policy (which is stated as: Please be sure you truly understand and want this before you buy it!) to a 100% refund if you show me YOU DID THE WORK. (That's how the current CYM class is…because people who want digital refunds are typically those who didn't use the stuff at all, and they're mad at…[Read more]

I just finished my April review and I am feeling pretty bummed. I decided to track my hours worked for April (I have never done this before). When I divide my gross income by my hours worked, my hourly rate is slightly over half of the legal minimum wage in my province. I was expecting it to be higher since my gross income has increased…[Read more]
