I'm working on getting a new website up and running. I switched from a domain on WordPress.com to Green Geeks hosting and WordPress.org site. I have the basic site up but I'm lost with the plugins I should be using.
I am overwhelmed by all the choices. Could you please recommend what you consider essential plugins on your site? I have already…[Read more]

How about if you don't share all of the info on the pdf on the periscope/blog/youtube platform. Choose one section of the PDF and turn that into a periscope/blog/youtube video. Or share small bits of each part without sharing the entire thing – this seems to be how Tara ties-in her worksheets with her podcasts and periscopes. You can even list…[Read more]

I have the same questions.
I will be running one from my LYS – and want to do something on line as well.
I don't have a Ravelry group – is it time to start one? Or just run the KAL from the LYS ravelry group?

If your goal is to sell spots in your new e-course, getting people on your mailing list so they'll be notified when the e-course goes live seems to be a good idea. Otherwise, if they just read it on your blog, you'd have to assume they would either come back and check on the e-course or that they'll be finding the blog post after the e-course has…[Read more]

I just published my new shawl pattern, Snow Falling on Shadows. It is a snuggly big wrap – and the pattern photo is a Starship cooperation, with our own @linda-tieu.

So I asked on Periscope they overwhelmingly preferred a PDF download.
But I would still love to hear about how people make one piece of content work for multiple platforms. I guess I have to think about if I did a video sharing the content of the PDF, what additional information can I include in the PDF that will make people want to download it.

Many of you have done a lot of KALs or CALs. What have you found works best, and what doesn't work for you?
Where do you run it? Ravelry? FB? Other?
Where do you promote it? How far ahead?
Incentives?
Working with specific yarn dyer or company?
How long?Any other suggestions?
Thanks! -

About your question, Karen: I'd not add any explanations to the pay rise. Personally, I'd be interested in reading it and just accept whatever reasons you give. But giving reasons often triggers people into thinking they are to evaluate your reasons. It might lead to a nasty chain of…[Read more]

So I just put together a great PDF called “3 essential tools for tech editors”. I was going to use it as a lead-in for my newsletter. But it's wordy enough that it could be a blog post or a periscope talk (which would end up on YouTube and blog).
Question: How do I know where is best to use content or is there a way to make this content work for…[Read more]

Did I mention my other-half-of-the-booth-mate is going to have a baby, like, any minute now and isn't planning on being there??? I'll bring some of her inventory (probably whatever she's been able to get ready that she doesn't wholesale), and we share her gridwall. Probably need to rope someone into going with…[Read more]
