Looking at the date of when my group was created, I set it up shortly after I published my first three designs. I really set it up at the beginning so I could host test knits in my group. It's not a super big or super active group, but I'm starting to get more people who talk (and who talk to each other!), so that's been nice.
I guess the big…[Read more]

@kathi-snodgrass I would say when you want to do it. I find mine a pain because no one talks, but it reflects me–an introvert. I'm amazed at people who make their forums active, but I don't know how to do it. I have worked to get people to join, so I've got 958 members–who don't talk! I am not a joiner, so I totally take the blame.

@kimberley-bridgwater I love Yoast! I also use CoSchedule (paid version). The analytics, blockers, you list are on my site, but what I like the most is Yoast and CoSchedule.

At what point did designers or yarn creators make a Ravelry Forum?
Just wondering when I should create on. I am starting to have more patterns – so far about 15.

I just placed my first wholesale fiber supply order! I had this penciled in at the start of the year to be done before the end of June, so I'm a whole month early!
(And now I should re-do my Pay Yourself math with my new fiber costs– yay increased profit margins!)

WOW, @elaine-vandiver! I hope you've had a few lower movement days to recover a bit!

Thank you @linda-tieu!
I have now added Yoast SEO, Google Analytics by MonsterInsights, Akismet and Google XML Sitemaps. Which plugins do you use for broken links checking, and to limit logins?
It isn't overwhelming, it's helpful! It's the thousands of plugins available that is overwhelming.

@c-c-almon is that your daughter in the photos? I posted about your pattern in my newsletter yesterday.
Same for you @tanja-osswald. And was that beautiful black and white photo with your earlier pattern you? Gorgeous. -

@jessica I put this into my newsletter today. I've got a pattern I can give a coupon for. Let me know requirements.

@jessica How many would you need for prizes?
I don't really do BBT, I'm afraid, the humor never worked for me, but you'd be welcome to choose from the existing designs.

Ever heard of these guys? ACT Insurance
It appears to be short- and long-term insurance for people like us. I haven't dug too deeply into the website yet, but I did a quick Google on the home company (Veracity). BBB rated them well, Bloomberg has them listed, and Reuters had an article about a “strategic purchase” (of another company, I gather)…[Read more]

I am currently running my second KAL, the only difference is that this one is a Charity KAL- which I have decided to do at least 2 Charity KAL a year, but ideally I'd love to be able to do 1 a quarter.
What I have found that works best is to work in collaboration with a yarn company. I'm currently partnering with The Fiber Seed, as they had a…[Read more] -

@Marcia, to my blog? I have a post on Ravelry here about the KAL, and then I'll be posting on my blog next week, I sent out a newsletter to my subscribers with all the details, and then the Yarn Company sent one out to the yarn shops they sell to (and I'm getting lots of traffic and buys from that!).
And the link to find out about Arizona Fisher…[Read more] -

@amy-cook the prizes would be for Knitters! so anything that you think a knitter might love would work (I'm totally digging your notebooks and am going to have to buy one for my next project….you wouldn't be up for doing a Big Bang Theory inspired fandom one would you? I um, might, have a slight love of that show, lol!)
