Seems like I'm doing this not daily, but in spurts. I just got through days 8 to 11.
And my biggest insight was that most of the things related to my business actually are fun for me, no need to re-frame my mind. 🙂
I'm still working on the list of power-ups. Having a tea, dancing, do some housework, hug my husband, meeting friends are the ones…[Read more] -

Hey all, how are we doing? I've fallen off the real exercise bandwagon, but am still getting walks in at least 2x a week. A lot of personal care stuff is slipping by the wayside in the house hunt, but the #monthofbizlove reminder about mindset was incredibly helpful and timely. I also have a counseling/therapy/whichever it is session that Dan…[Read more]

@jill-wolcott, am laughing at the “pros” comment…but the more the merrier…and the fun!
@lisa-barnes, I'm sure we can work it out.
I'd love to have some time for a proper scope visit with everyone…as opposed to “hey, look there's …”. I would expect @kathleen-dames feels the same.

Honestly, two things are keeping me from buying some: a) no extra spending money at all, right now, and b) even though it's the perfect and obvious choice for a starship themed colorway, I just don't like pink! 🙂
That said, the questions Joeli had are good ones to consider. I would definitely want to have at least a general time frame for when…[Read more]

Hi Lindsay! For me it is the shipping cost. To ship a 4-5 oz skein from Las Vegas to Washington for $7 is a little high for me. I am guessing you send Priority mail but first class would work for me because with how thick the package would be, you still get tracking on it.

I agree with Jill. The timing with TNNA doesn't work out so well right now.
I've been watching the series of wholesale classes on Creative Live (very helpful so far), and one of the things the instructor mentioned was that sometimes a store may be quiet for a really long time and then suddenly contact you seemingly out of the blue to place an…[Read more]

I don't buy yarn from overseas as a general rule but I'm also very wary of buying custom yarns. Here would be my concerns:
1. How long will it take to dye and for me to get it?
2. How will the colour differ on the different bases you offer?
If those two questions are answered then I might be tempted, but more often I like to buy things that are…[Read more] -

Lindsay,
I would follow up after TNNA. Some shops are probably waiting for that, and reps will be going out to show other shops things. If you aren't using reps, you may have a hard time getting their attention. Shops then to be not very communicative and overwhelmed. Other dyers may have better info for you. -

My goal for this quarter is 12 wholesale orders, which is huge, especially since I'm just beginning. I've spent this last month furiously sending introductory emails to yarn shops and have actually received a fairly good response. (!!!) I have a pretty good system of emailing and following up, and about half of the responses I've gotten are from…[Read more]

Hi everyone,
I'm looking for some feedback on my #starshipbiz yarn listing. I received quite a bit of interest in the yarn prior to posting the listing, however there hasn't been any sales. I would just love to know what it is that's preventing you from making the purchase. If it's something that I can fix I'd love to know so that I can make…[Read more]

Lars is welcome. I think with those dropping out, I'm okay on my numbers, but I'll check to be sure–and increase or decrease as needed.
I'd also love to participate in a Periscope with pros!

July 4? LOL @tara
I started already because I have all these bits and pieces that are floating around in my head with no structure or deadlines.

@Lars-rains has said he would like to come to dinner Saturday night. Not sure if he's active in the Starship right now, but I think once a Starshipper, always a Starshipper.

@tanja-osswald thanks so much for the encouragement!! It feels like it's taken too long to find the best mental head space. However you are right in that I set what is “too late”. I'm sure in the scheme, I'm right where I need to be.
Have a gorgeous day! 😉

Hi all- I'm coming to DC around 2 on Fri. and leaving around 2 on Mon. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone this weekend! @varian-brandon and @kathleen-dames, would love to join you for Periscoping if that's not too many people and the timing works. I will see you all for dinner on Sat. night!

Unfortunately, I'm not going to be able to make it to dinner. Hopefully I'll catch you all on the show floor though. If you have time, stop buy the Stitch Sprouts booths (586/587) – I'm exhibiting for them for the first time!
See you in DC! 🙂

Catching up – Days 8 and 9
I'm feeling pretty lucky because pretty much all the aspects of the business I HOPE to have will be fun. In fact that's kind of my whole goal here – to restructure my business to make it focused on the work I find most fulfilling.
To help myself get through the not-fun work in the meantime, I am now armed with…[Read more]
