Working on:
-Preparing for our big event of the year (Open Barn).
-Spending quality time with my Dad while he is in town. He's here from Missouri to help with our event, and from day one has played an enormous role in our farm, trying to remember not to work him to death! Went to a ballgame last night!
-Growing the dye gardenGoing well:

> I need to figure out how to do a survey for my newsletter, but it looks like I can do it right through MailChimp.
I haven't checked out the survey options through MailChimp (I didn't realize that was available), but I've been using Google Forms to do surveys for my mailing list. It's actually got a lot of great features and is easy to set up…[Read more]

Working on: Dyeing for a show coming up in two weeks. Freaking out a bit because I have so much more on my “to dye” list than I think I can truly get through. So I'm prioritizing and trying to dye the essentials first. But I'm still starting to hit panic mode.
Going well: I started a podcast. Because I need more projects. No, really, because I've…[Read more]

Yay for crafting comics!
Google “Stricktreffen” (= knit meeting) and click the image search. “World Wide Knitting in Public Day” might be a good search term, too.
That should give you lots of input for posture, maybe some of hand position. -

Hi @jess-cook – I'm happy to give you some marketing research!
What do you consider to be a good pay rate to teach a craft-based class in a local store? (Ex. – Knitting Basics, Beginner Sewing, etc.)
I try to go for $50/hour of actual instruction time, no matter who shows up. I always expect that I will be spending at least the instruction t…[Read more] -

There is a mailchimp lite – it's called tinyletter 🙂 Mailchimp acquired it soon after I looked into it a couple years ago (used to be text only!) so I just stuck with my mailchimp account, but you can see more info here:

I too am really struggling on the fitness side. Needing to squeeze in getting the house ready to sell and the added time I've needed to give my mom the only flex I've had is my running time. After a hectic day getting my stuff/self ready for TNNA yesterday I did take a vigorous walk which really saved my sanity. It also gave me time to sort out…[Read more]

I hope the therapist surprises you in a good way, Mary :). It's to your credit that you are stepping outside of your comfort zone to try it. If she's not the right one for you, don't give up! I hope she is, but I can imagine there's a bit of chemistry involved, too. Hope it's a good session!

I'm starting to firm up my project of comics of characters knitting & crocheting & crafting, and Google is very unhelpful for photos — mostly it's either tiny, far-away shots of groups, or close-ups of models who are clearly not knitting.
So what I need is reference photos!
– from the front shots of people knitting, from head to waist or even…[Read more] -

one more thing — for us, finding a library to donate books to helped us, because to my surprise E can have a hard time parting with books. While we donate many things to the the humane society thrift store, we found mentally we preferred to donating to a library book sale that supports it helped tremendously.

Jill, all I can suggest is take it slow and give yourself lots of mini rewards & breaks. If you end up boxing and moving a few things you really don't need or ultimately want — it's annoying, but I think the tradeoff is worth it for you mentally. I know this as the child of a hoarder with those tendencies myself who is married to someone who…[Read more]
