The pdf version of Market Yourself is identical to the paperback save for Tara's signing the physical book. I have both versions. I bought the PDF from Cooperative Press when the book was first published and got a signed copy from Tara later.

I totally agree with this idea! All the energy used to talk to people who don't get your nascent idea, to seek reassurance from them about it, to prevent feeling vulnerable to all their doubts and warnings and skepticism, to explain and defend to them not just the “what” of the idea but the incredibly personal “WHY” of your idea is ALL energy that…[Read more]

I've just finished the last lesson 🙂
The whole thing helped me in a practical way – the realisation I need to separate out everything and set up systems to make the whole money management thing work better.
It also helped reaffirm that I am on the right track. I'd already realised what kind of product was and wasn't working for me and the…[Read more]

Shelley Husband replied to the topic Question for Blog Writers in the forum Engineering 9 years, 1 month ago
I tried having a schedule but it didn't work out for me. I find it hard to come up with what to say if I am not immersed in a topic.
What I tend to do is have a series of posts every now and when. It might be a CAL – that's easy to set up and schedule.
Other times, I have a topic I want to explore and might do 3 or 4 posts on it, which I plan…[Read more]

Thanks so much @dana-gervais 🙂 That helps a lot.
I have since contacted my bank about setting up a purely business account and my paypal is a business one already. I will admit to occasionally using it to fund the odd impulse purchase 😉 I must stop that now I'm going to be doing it properly.
The accrual thing will work for some of my…[Read more]

Romance text is the “About” text you write to talk about the pattern! It usually is a bit of flowery marketing that sits in the description box of Ravelry. In my case it is there and on the front of the pattern.

Hi All,
I am just HORRIBLE at writing romance text for my own patterns. HORRIBLE!!
I am wondering if there is anyone here that would be willing to help me write romance text for my indie patterns and for my book?
I am willing to pay or do some sort of trade!

I think you have to do what works for you. I have no plan except that I write about something knitting specific on Tuesdays, and I have scheduled guest blogs for each month through 2016. My Monday and Friday blogs are pretty much what I think of when I sit down at my computer.
I don't work well with too much structure, so this might not work for…[Read more]

How far out do you plan your blog? What's your system for writing the posts? I'm thinking of doing a large planning session, then work on outlines/ points to hit, then writing sessions. Does this sound better or is it better to work on smaller number of posts and completing them from start to finish? Or am I way over thinking this?

Are you still planning to do this in the fall? I want to add it to my list for the next while and I've already downloaded the pdf that was linked. Second question… does the pdf have everything the book does or do I need that too?

@joeli-kelly I feel like you write posts for me. I am always thinking “waste of time” and not “important thing”!

My system isn't great but basically money comes into my business bank account and paypal but comes out of paypal, business bank account, or personal bank account.
I manage it all through my budgeting system which is YouNeedABudget.com (YNAB). I love it because it forces me to enter and categorise all the money coming in and out of these three…[Read more]
