I'm working through Chart Your Stars at the moment and, inspired by the lovely @linda-tieu, I've created my own North Star note paper! My favourite colour is orange, so I took a creative leap. 😉
My north stars are all around my principles (honesty, bravery, fairness, kindness) and their applications: love, friendship, connection, authenticity,…[Read more]

Yesterday, I got up around seven, started proofreading and dealing with finishing touches and around elven p.m., I started sending files to my publisher (still in progress, due to our internet issues; I just let it run all night – as of now, 7 more files to transfer).
To sum up: My book is done!
There will be correction cycles starting soon but…[Read more]

I finished lesson 2
So I don't have the problem of not having time to work on everything, I'm not good at using my time the best ways possible. I do have things that come first (husband, kids, homschooling, and sometimes co-op), but they don't prevent me from having time to work. And I do really value these things above my shop.
One thing I'm…[Read more]

Thank everyone… I need to find what works for me because I'm not sure I know other than just winging it doesn't, or it hasn't in the past.
I think I need to work on getting at least a week ahead to help me keep up with it.

This is my first time doing map making. Starting it make me realize that organization wasn't the best word for my north star… consistency is better, so changed that and kept joy because that one is always good.
My goal is in 3 months I will be consistence with my blog, email newsletter, listings, and SM.
I'm going to measure this by setting…[Read more]

Hello fellow map makers!
I have just finished step 1. (actually started on Step 2 by accident too – I was on a roll hehe)
I tend to struggle with this kind of goal setting – the to do list – easy, but stating the actual goal, much harder. Also the feelings things are hard for me too.
But I have done it. So my goal is “In 6 months I will…[Read more]

Shelley Husband replied to the topic New Knit/Crochet Pattern Launch Checklist in the forum Engineering 9 years, 1 month ago
Oh I am very interested in this 🙂 I don't have a formal list, but creating one would be a great idea.
Here's my list that I'm writing from just thinking about what I do LOL I'm sure I've missed some steps.
To get the pattern ready, these are my steps which work for me at the moment – I design mostly 6″ squares so it suits me
1. design…[Read more]

Hi all- Would you be willing to share your checklist for launching a new knit or crochet pattern? I'm looking for not just the tasks to create the pattern, but the launch timeline/marketing/etc.
(I seem to recall this was posted in the old website forums, so hope that whomever posted that can respond here too).
Thanks!

I'd be glad to help! I offer this as part of my tech editing services. Here's a little before and after so you can see what I do:

The Dappled Sea reversible scarf is light
enough to wear in any season. The lightness
and fluffiness of the alpaca yarn
make it feel like wearing a cloud. The addition

I think there are different kind of ideas and they need different treatment. On the one hand, you have the kind you can “talk to death” (that's a German phrase that catches it pretty well), on the other hand, there are ideas that need feedback to get clear and shaped.
Two examples: In the process of becoming self-employed, it helped me a lot to…[Read more] -

I'm rushing to finish CYS today (along with a load of tech editing), whilst we have visitors, so I can be ready to start tomorrow. I know I don't have to start with everyone else, but I hate feeling like I'm running behind – and I want to work along with the group. Ah well, nothing like something that challenges my desires to help me learn. 😉

I second the idea of ‘what works for you'. This is your space and however you approach it will reflect your style, and so be suitable! I'm sure Tara would say something about consistency, and has talked about how she only managed it with her blog when she got ahead of her posting schedule, i.e. had it written and ready before the publication…[Read more]

@joeli-kelly Thanks, Joeli! I've heard about Bullet Journaling, but not looked into it – if it suits the more relaxed / flexible approach it could well be worth trying out!
Now, shall we call using these forums ‘waste of time' or ‘important thing'?! 😉 @jill-wolcott
