Thanks a lot @karen-robinson 🙂 I understand it works really well for some folks – many of the you here! It's like a lot of things for me – I figured out the basics of what I needed then didn't look any deeper. I do have some sales there, and good group numbers etc but haven't done the work to make it more effective. I will make the…[Read more]

I teach at my LYS and am trying to help them get a marketing plan going. Currently I have:
* Regularly sent out a newsletter. They used to do it once a month at the most. Now about once a week – I'm working on consistency and adding more content.
* Add classes to the online weekly newspaper/info site in town.
* Help with KALs that are now…[Read more]

There's a section devoted to this in Tara's book. It's an awesome excercise. I think the book might be available for download in the library.

When you go to send the campaign instead of sending to entire list you send to “a group or new segment” and then set it to “date added is after” whatever you want.

I'm super new! but I had three ideas 🙂
1. ‘Jack of all crafts' – I know exactly what you mean BUT the echo in my head is ‘master of none'. Now, that's not true because you're a great knitter and terrific teacher. Just start with Passionate knitter (serial crafter)?
2. Make sure you mention ‘local classes' but I would move the section about your…[Read more]

it is fabulous when suppliers are diligent and careful like that! I've not used Zitron yet. Knitting and crochet are my down-time hobbies, and big shawls get me through the winters when my brain starts doing the crazy 🙂 I have got a big pile of yarn and patterns set aside so will be hopefully getting to them sometime soon. Right now, I;m…[Read more]

Below is the bio I currently have in Ravelry. I would love suggestions for making it better. I have a pattern that will be coming out in Knit Picks and want to send them an updated bio. I still teach, but am spending more time on pattern design and have realized that I really like the teaching at my LYS but not as much when I travel outside of…[Read more]

Thank you for all the good wishes for my coughing and our flights. ♥ To my surprise, I did not to murder my mother-in-law during our last few hours in Budapest (a miracle, even E was very annoyed by his mother's behaviour). We were well taken care of, our shuttle flight from Budapest was incredibly delayed and landed 15 minutes before the c…[Read more]

You can make a list segment. Or I should say I can because I pay–don't know if it is available if you are using the free status.

Why not send it to the whole list as a reminder for them to use it and come buy stuff? 🙂

Two year's worth of paperwork – be bold and brave!
I have to admit, I have little idea bout CE regulations. I'm glad they give some protection but I don't sell finished items myself, so I don't have to deal with them.
My yarn sponsor, Zitron, has his yarn tested so I know it is baby safe, in case you ever need yarn for your dolls.
Teesdale locks…[Read more] -

What's going well?
I'm almost done packing and getting ready to go to conference on Tuesday. I have a bunch of new designs and swatches to show at Designer Meet & Greet. Getting more excited every day.Working on?
Starting to work on my new map for Q3. Not sure on some of my goals yet, since they may change depending on whether I sell any designs…[Read more] -

I've set up my email list and I've been collecting subscribers at my shows. I have a coupon code that subscribers get when they confirm their subscription but the ones that I add from shows don't. Is there a way to make mail chimp send it to just the new subscribers?
ETA: Right now I'm just planning on sending it out myself from my email but if…[Read more]

I couldn't imagine making my business work without Ravelry. I have other venues for selling patterns (and advertising my yarn), but nothing gets me the traffic or sales like Ravelry. According to the stats, “Ravelry has 6,319,467 registered users. 778,935 Ravelers have been active during the last 30 days.” So I think it's a bigger option than the…[Read more]

@karen-robinson that sounds fantastic! I love automated things that save time 😀
Right now I am basically in hibernation. I only create one-off paintings, don't do prints, teach or anything else, so it is safe enough to just write everything down. I will definitely look at godaddy though, that sounds awesome. I am going to work out some maths…[Read more]

LOL @linda-tieu Thank you 😀 I am at such an early stage of dealing with money and so easily spooked I don't feel ready to approach excel – as you say, not cute but very powerful software. I'm probably going to go for a pre-made package on etsy, so I can get started right away – but I will definitely get back to you in future 😀
