what's going well? focus (most of the time). making progress on mapmaking. chipping away at all the lists. 🙂 the insulation last week turned into a bit of a nightmare (and is why I'm behind on map making), they left a huge mess on thursday and friday saw yet another wrong door show up. so those projects still aren't crossed off our list, but we…[Read more]

@jill-wolcott, that is a very friendly and concise blog post, with clear calls to action. Well done!

Okay, since I'm not really working, this feels like a big deal. I got a blog post up today which incorporated the comments made on my thread.
@james-bartley and @karen-robinson, I think I improved my asks, and the placement of them! Thanks so much for the feedback–I am obtuse about this stuff (purposely?) and it was good to have it pointed out.

The amazing Dedri (Sophie's Universe designer) has very kindly mentioned me in a tutorial post – I don't think we really collaborated LOL but we did both come up with the same idea at the same time 🙂 Really Lazy Popcorn stitch tutorial

My a-pattern-a-day week continues with Roswitha.
Roswitha is a small, nimble bee. Always on the go, she looks out for new flowers, crevices and holes to explore and investigate. Roswitha has many sisters who meet up to dance together, sharing stories of their adventures.
Can you tell about her on your social media?

@Jess-cook, thanks, that is helpful. I am going to let myself off the hook on quality content this week! No other work is being done except packing.

This is great! I write an e-mail once or twice a month (working on getting consistent at 2x/month for now), with topics and bonus content for subscribers relating to running a small business. I've been focusing mostly on hiring someone for your biz, but I'm also branching out to other topics like how to use free e-mail software to your best…[Read more]

I'm doing the same thing for a yarn store, Kathi – working on improving their website content and sending out weekly e-mail newsletters. Right now I've JUST barely started, so I don't have much advice to offer, but I'm happy to be a sounding board and maybe we can come up with good ideas together as we go along! (The biggest obstacle I have right…[Read more]

We sent it out last November-ish so if you've got your emails from that it'll be there! If not, then it will be again this coming November.

I second the idea of making a content upgrade that specifically goes with this post – so it's not just a “sign up for my newsletter” but instead it's “I've got this really awesome bonus so if you're interested in X then you really want Y, but you have to sign up to get it.”
Good luck with the move! I'm right there with you and I'm giving myself…[Read more]

Jess Cook replied to the topic Income Goal? in the forum Engineering 8 years, 10 months ago
You've gotten some great answers, here!
I especially like the idea of thinking of this goal as constantly moving, or “leveling up.”
So you start with wanting the business to fund itself, aka not taking any of your personal money to keep it afloat (or if it does, being able to pay yourself back within a reasonable time).
Then you think about…[Read more]
