How to find your right people. What questions to ask. Where to look for them. how to aim for them. What SM or even non-tech ways to get to them.

How about…
more about how to get around the roadblocks of the different personality types. Rubin goes into these fairly generically. Maybe you could break them down and offer suggestions for coping…skewed toward creatives. Maybe mini interviews of how other captains cope.more about getting over comparisons with what others are doing. How to…[Read more]

Hey @barbara-kish – I actually have a worksheet for this in Pay Yourself (you can download the PDF in the library, then flip ahead to it – it's call Earnings Budget) It helps you figure out how much you want to make in a month, based on some real numbers. But yeah, it still asks what YOU want to make in a month (as a payment from your biz)…and…[Read more]

I second what Jess said!
And I'd add: Be sure you ask every person who comes in to sign up for the newsletter. And then, be sure your newsletter has strong Calls to Action. Like: Come do X. Get this new yarn.
If you want to look into doing social media, I'd go with Instagram or a Facebook Group + invite students/shoppers to share their project…[Read more] -

I love this question, @april-ridgeway and appreciate everyone who's spoken up. I don't know how public Jess is with her rates, so I'm not going to get specific (she can share if she wants, of course!), but I can point you towards this post, where I talk about how to hire someone, which may help you think about how to package + pitch it to people:…[Read more]

I'd love to hear your thoughts on how to get around that feeling of always being behind (even though many things in a tiny biz don't have deadlines).

Friends!
I am all out of ideas!
What would you like me to talk about on my podcast?
(If I've covered something similar, tell me what specifically different you'd like me to cover…and of course it's ok if you don't know if I've already talked about it!)

@dawn-craig I used HootSuite a while ago (it's been about a year, so didn't get to test the Instagram stuff) – the main change for me was the user interface – how the screens actually look. I much prefer Buffer's Queue page (and analytics page) then what HootSuite would show me when I scheduled something (I couldn't see it how it all “fit”…[Read more]

what's going well? i'm finding my grove in the new chaotic normal. i'm making looser schedules and my q3 maps are starting to look like maps. E is at a conference through this evening and I've had the house (& 2 cats + 1 foster kitten) & car to myself. It's been wonderful. I'm about to head out (why I'm posting early) on a minor driving challenge…[Read more]

Whatcha workin on?
I finally let one of my employees go because she was just missing too much work. It was hard. I really felt for her because she has a lot of health problems and I know what that's like. But I need to know that when someone is scheduled to work, they're going to be here. I know everyone has reasons they can't work once in a…[Read more]

This is great, guys! You're all making me feel motivated to get working on my map! (I'm giving myself permission to be “late” with my map this quarter because of the move.)
And @dawn-craig and @shelley-husband — it's totally fine to arrange your mile markers and To Dos in any way that works for you! The whole point of this experience is to help…[Read more]
