week 1 – interview with creatives
week 2 – tip
week 3 – current projects
week 4 – book review/tip
(week 5) – round up of interesting things i found around the…[Read more] -

Well I have finished lesson 3 🙂
I found another internal rule I have now wrangled into submission – “I should always be working” totally unrealistic! I found setting myself work times and stopping when I was meant to was brilliant! I realised that before I was doing other stuff worrying/thinking about work I could be doing. This week I…[Read more]

Is there a plug in for wordpress that I can use to mark certain images for certain SM outlets? I'm thinking if I only put one on my blog it should be for Pintrest but if I could have one for FB too that would be great. Or does using the same one for FB and Pinterest work fine? For IG I can just keep them on my computer.

That's the same thing I was thinking. The plastic holding the insulation up is messy looking, the cement floor has stains and looks dirty even though it's not, things like that. So I'm doing kind of mini tours, just bits and pieces with the background not in it or changing my depth of focus to blur it out. Just not going to do an overall tour…[Read more]

Thank you, @linda-tieu!
Yes, only a few of my themes lend to prescheduling. Right now, I preschedule my quotes and reviews. I'm aiming to preschedule more of my chronic illnesses posts. I try to start the other posts ahead and just add as things occur to make for less writing the day the post goes live.
It's a good system as long as I put in the…[Read more]

@karen-robinson Thank you so much!
You are absolutely correct – I need to break it down more as I'd combined tech editing expectations along with testing expectations. Awesome! 🙂
Your steps 1 2 & 3 are practically the same as what I do already so that makes me feel a bit better about my self evolved process LOL
My tests generally only go…[Read more]

@dana-gervais wow that's a great pool to have 🙂 Lucky you 🙂
It sounds like I am doing a lot of what you do already – I earburn, I ask for projects to be created but I haven't been good at tracking who actually does that. I will add it to my testers checklist. Thank you 🙂
I think the same re volunteers – they are giving up their time and…[Read more]

@tara thank you 🙂 I have had a read of both of those 🙂
I do open tests to 3 or 4 and close it when spots are filled. So one thing I'm doing right already LOL 😉 I think my ask of commitments they're signing up for needs to be clearer though, which is why I'm starting a checklist for my requirements 🙂
Thanks Tara 🙂

@dawn-craig thanks so much 🙂 That sounds like a great system for you. I am thinking the consensus is going to be yarn for samples 🙂
Oh yes re crochet LOL I can't stand making row by row back and forth blankets. I get bored hence me designing multiple squares 😉 Much easier to make a blanket for me 😉 Thanks so much 🙂

@jess-cook I am hesitant to use the Rave testers group because of the volume of testing I do. I'd consider it for a one off maybe. I'll look into it again though, as it's been a while since I last looked at it.
I do have a blacklist of folks I won't use anymore and I've kept records since the start so I know who's who. Those records and system…[Read more]

You've gotten some good suggestions here already.
So, I think the first thing that you really need to do is think about why you are using pattern testers and what you want to gain from the experience. Are you truly counting on your testers to find errors? Are you just wanting to make sure your instructions work for other people? I think that once…[Read more]

Thanks everybody! I haven't quoted this shop a rate yet, so this gives me some good things to think about. I think I'm going to encourage her to contact other stores in the area where I could also teach, so that she can split the costs with them. I just don't see how one little yarn store will be able to afford to bring me to her shop for 5 hours…[Read more]

How do you manage testing? Do you do it via email/rav/facebook/some other way?
I am a knitwear designer, not crochet, and I mostly design socks. All of my tests are conducted in my group on Ravelry. I started in the Free testers group, and I know the rules in that group mean it isn't for everyone, but I happen to thrive with structure and…[Read more]

Lots of people would be envious of your basement studio! You can definitely show it, especially if you can get the pictures well-lit and not too dark. But you don't need to pretend like you work in an airy loft surrounded by angels 🙂 That said, I would strongly advise against photos that show dirty laundry, dishes, or other messy-life stuff.…[Read more]
