@karen-whooley, I've got you twice in my newsletter. Thanks for doing the Taos shout out and thanks to @karen-lepage and @tara. I think I got everyone else's boosts. @jennie-moraitis just saw this in time to add to my newsletter. I was checking links.

Simple but try a quick walk around the block with some music or a podcast… My doctor said to go for a short time without sunglasses so the sunlight give your brain a boost.
Write in a journal.
Make a list of all you need to do then work the list. Make a list of things you want to do. Sometimes cleaning a drawer makes me feel powerful.

First of all, you're doing this! Whoohoo! I think jitters are normal, but one thing I definitely did differently with my last launch was to celebrate and to take a bit of time off. Not total off the grid time off, but I prepped blog posts/social media/emails ahead of time, so I actually could be in the moment when the launch happened, if that…[Read more]

Hi folks 🙂
It's happening again – it always does. I know I wont be the only one who feels this way, so I thought I'd ask how you deal with it when it happens to you.
So here's the thing. I have a my latest big thing out in 2 days. It's been a work in progress for months – many months. It's been thoroughly tested, proof read, tech edited,…[Read more]

@tanja-osswald and @jill-wolcott I need to clarify, not surprisingly…
Ok, once a pattern is published, the FO goes in a bin to keep it clean and looking new for TNNA, trunk shows, etc.
BUT before it's published…
If I'm still making it, it's in my knitting basket by the couch. I print out a working pattern template to take notes on and…[Read more]

@riin-gill, I love Tanja's system (and am not surprised she has an excellent one), but she is always logical. I think the question should be: 1) where could you put the knitting ephemera other than the desk? 2) Why is it on the desk, 3) do you have someplace it should be other than the desk, and 4) what could you do to get it off the desk.

Either I wear my FOs, I gift them, or I just keep them in clear ziplock bags. I don't make many extra swatches, so I don't have a system about keeping them. And the cards are all in one stack. That stack might get buried under other stuff but they stay together this way. Once a pattern is published, the card goes to the waste paper…[Read more]

I'm wondering about a podcast regarding all the various ways to morph a business into more income streams than just selling the product. Like teaching, selling extra supplies, writing something that is bought – like a pdf or a book, selling at shows, selling in stores, wholesale, etc. I guess I'm aware of a lot of the options but I'm sure I'm…[Read more]

@tanja-osswald It's organized in my computer. It's the physical stuff that's chaos. What do you do with the actual garments, swatches, etc.? And you mentioned index cards. How do you keep them from getting mixed in with everything else?

@riin-gill about organizing patterns in progress: I always work on lots of projects at the same time and sometimes, that just flows, sometimes it feels like things are more floating around on their own… So, on my computer, I have a folder for all my patterns in progress (and another one for published patterns; I love moving a folder over to the…[Read more]

Whatcha workin on?
All the things.
I realized a shawl I was designing actually wanted to be two different shawls, so I'm now working on the first one in DK Silk.
I sent a hat pattern off to my tech editor.
I started to write up the pattern for the last sweater I knit, only to realize I can't find my notes. They're not in my knitting basket,…[Read more]

I am unpacking, getting back into a normal working groove, and continuing to experience wrist issues, so not knitting. What’s going Well?
Unpacking everything but my studio. I have my studio about 50% complete, but it is a matter of finding a good place, really evaluating whether I need or want things, and not just shoving t…[Read more] -
