Sometimes it is the tweaking that does the trick. I worked in a yarn shop for a year and the owner always had us rearrange the yarn that wasn't selling–it always seemed to change the energy and it would become interesting to customers. So Yay! for changing the energy.

Yay @nessa-jay! Always glad when my advice seems appropriate. Planning really made a difference, along with constant review of progress, assumptions, information. Where are you thinking of relocating to?

No one EVER contacted me via my website to order or request anything. like, EVER. and I've had a website for 2 years now.
I finished revamping my website with my right people in mind about 2 weeks ago (after taking Tara's CL course) and I've already gotten 3 emails from possible customers (1 resulting in a $100 sale)! And traffic to my website…[Read more]

Thank you @jill-wolcott, that's great advice! I've already started some pre-planning and I've already started talking to my best friend to help me out. Wish me luck! 🙂

If I need to access stuff away from home, I either attach it to a draft email in gmail or upload it to dropbox. Not often for me, 99% of the time I work at home and haven't had the need to solve this problem. Hope you find a solution that works for you 🙂

OK so before I start the second lesson, I've gone back and tried again to boil down my things into a short statement.
I know it doesn't have to be “it”, set in stone, never to be looked at, but I need a solid start as I am launching a new landing/home page in the next week or so and will be using this on that.
Hi! I'm Shelley. I design…

I use a spiral notebook. Even though I use the computer and my phone for so many things, I like keeping track of all my design notes by hand.
If I were to do it electronically, however, I would definitely use Evernote as I've liked it when I do use it for other things.

You might like Evernote. I think it is a bit buggy if you are using the free version, but I have the premium. I also use Dropbox so I can access things, although some file formats aren't available on a phone.

Where do you keep track of your designs? Like notes, measurements, stitch count, etc before your finial draft is done. I want something cloud based that I can access on my pc or devices (all android right now).

I sent an email via MailChimp to 136 email subscribers who at some point signed up to hear from me about knitting and art. The last bulk email I sent was in December 2011 and it was to my food segment rather than knitters.
I highlighted my Warm-Weather Knits collection on Ravelry (which now has a “cover” which doesn't embarrass me). You can find…[Read more]

@nessa-jay I haven't moved across the country, but I did just move from CA to WA. We lived here before (left 24 years ago), and had housing in place, but this is my advice:
Obsessive planning.
Throw out everything you can.
It is probably worth it to visit your destination and do as much to put things in place, even if the cost seems high.
I like…[Read more] -

What's going well?
Sent out my first 2 newsletters since summer “break” and have a new format so from now on they'll be uniform and easier to put together and send. Also created and sent the first of my new subscriber gifts. I've had a few new subscribers since. What are you working on?
I'm slowly working my way through the pricing course. I've…[Read more] -
