@nessa-jay This course is aimed at “fiber bosses” and I know you are not quite in that area, but the sales page talks a lot about talking about your art so I think it could still help you. I've worked with Chelsea on graphics and branding before (she did my logo) and I love her so I'm taking this course. It's brand new so I can't like officially…[Read more]

I think the only way yarn could bleed color while being knit is if the knitter is in the pool while knitting. Maybe you'll have to add, “swimming while knitting is not advised” to your label. 😉
Such good advice here.
ETA: from everyone else 😀

It has been quite a while since I first started this thread – a large part of the year has passed. I am so happy we found the courage to have the conversation many months ago, and, as a result, things GOT BETTER. And most importantly, they still are.
Re-reading my original post, it is a bit shocking to relive those feelings, but so happy that…[Read more]

Whatcha workin on?
Recovering from the Michigan Fiber Festival. It was a very long weekend. Three day show. Very busy. Sold a lot. Rob's dad died the first morning. There was a tornado warning the second day and everyone at the show had to evacuate to the restrooms for over an hour. It got me thinking that my insurance coverage probably isn't…[Read more]

Thanks, @jess-cook and @tara!
Tara, good thought about tangles vs. knots.
I'm feeling a lot better about this situation. Thanks, everyone, for your comments. They helped me work through my immediate reaction and emotions. I'll be keeping an eye on my mail to see if I actually get this package. But other than that, I'm putting it aside for now.

Lesson 3 done. Boy there was a lot to take in. I think I'm in not to bad a place with my tools and my house is nearly in order ready to invite folks in. I have a plan for a tool I've only been half heartedly using and will see how that goes.
I did skim over chapter 6 as I am solely focusing on online at the moment, but I do have a long term…[Read more]

Oh Karen, I'm so sorry you had to go through this!
It is the WORST to hear that someone's unhappy (I once upended my whole Starship system because one person complained…and then learned later that's just how they communicate…so I'm saying I know how you feel!)
It's a totally normal part of business and what's AWESOME is your reaction to it -…[Read more] -

Oh Karen, I'm so sorry you're dealing with this!! I would be VERY interested to find out if this guy actually sends you the project AND if it's actually your yarn he made it with. I'm with the rest of them – the whole idea that he got it “as a gift” (so therefore you don't have a receipt showing he's a paying customer), doesn't have a camera…[Read more]

@marcia: I definitely wouldn't put something on the website like “If your yarn color runs while knitting with it…” so it would be something more vague about a concern without sounding too off putting. I'll have to think about it more when…[Read more]

@karen-whooley I use word to create my ebooks both for Smashwords and Amazon. I am yet to have my ebooks formatted by anyone else – all done by me so far, but I will be down the track – hopefully my next big one as I want to do a print version as well and my skills are pretty basic.
When I first researched self publishing ebooks, Smashwords was…[Read more]

Hi All!
Has anyone here used Smashwords for a knit/crochet book. I have been reading about them a lot lately as a really great way to publish books in eBook format. I would love to hear your thoughts on it.
My biggest question is how do you do books with photos? It says to upload MSword docs, but I see a lot of photo books on there. ( @shelley-…[Read more]
