Hi Tara, big hugs to you, and tears too.
I have so much to say but I’m having trouble finding the words. Part of the problem is that this past weekend I went back in time by binge-watching a series on Hulu called, “My Mad Fat Diary.” It’s about a sixteen year old British girl with mental health issues and her struggle through it. It hit close t…[Read more]

Rob pointed out that Awesome Yarn would allow me to sell other things in the future if I decide to. He's smart, that one. So I'm now the owner of awesomeyarn.com.

This is such a powerful post Tara and I think you are so brave for sharing your experience in order to help others. I really believe talking about mental health is the only way to lift the stigmas surrounding it. Im so proud to have you as a mentor. Hugs xxx

Hey Krista, I'm PTSD as well and likewise as a result of family stuff as a child, piled on by a rape in my 20s. The toolbox is pretty full, but definitely is only an aid. I get kinda mad when people say at X age you should be over that stuff; I feel like saying back, if Y hadn't happened, maybe so. But I generally just don't talk about it,…[Read more]

Krista Benskin replied to the topic What are you watching? in the forum Ten Forward 8 years, 10 months ago
I cycle between watching shows, listening to podcasts and listening to books. I'm off the shows for a bit, but when I feel like watching again, I plan to start watching Stranger Things on Netflix. I have had sooo many people tell me how awesome it is.

Big *hug*
As someone that has been diagnosed with PTSD as a result of childhood family stuff, this post really hit me in the heart. I got help through therapy, namely Cognitive Processing Therapy, finding it more effective for me than just the meds. Anxiety issues as a result still come up but I now have some tools in my toolbox to recognize…[Read more] -

@karen-robinson My hand dyed yarn is about 95% wholesale now, and I stopped selling online at the beginning of 2016 because a lot of LYS owners don't want to buy from dyers who sell online. I'm not selling the handspun wholesale though. Too labor intensive.
So I decided to go with Awesome Yarn. Because it is awesome yarn.

Thank you for sharing your story here and for planning to share it on the podcast.
As for what to include on the actual podcast, I think you're honestly the best judge of what you're comfortable sharing. But I was really touched by the side note of the guy in Starbucks, so I hope you'll include that story in the podcast…[Read more]

Barbara, since you're experienced with natural dyes, do you know if there's anything that can be done to help with the crocking of indigo-dyed yarn after the fact? I have some indigo-dyed yarn in my stash that I admit I've been a little afraid to use. I haven't even tested it yet to see how much of an issue it might be, but I would love to…[Read more]

How separate do you want to make it from your hand-dyed yarn? Unless you see a really clear reason for keeping the two businesses 100% separated, why not Happy Fuzzy Handspun?

@barbara-kish Oh yeah! I remember the Church of Craft! I thought that was an awesome idea! They seem to be defunct now though. I did a “church of craft” group name search on Ravelry, and of the 31 results, only one was actually a Church of Craft group, and the most recent post was over 4 years ago.
All the other results were crafting groups that…[Read more]

You're welcome! 🙂 And you're absolutely right about indigo crocking. There are steps you can take to minimize it, but I never promise that it won't happen. I use natural dyes, and it's the one time that I know soaking in vinegar won't change the color!
