Decided to try submitting it to Spring House Press today. I had met with Mary Beth Temple , who was filling in for the publisher there at conference and she encouraged me to try submitting to them. Just about an hour after I submitted it, I got an email back from them saying that they are busy getting winter books to the printer and releasing new…[Read more]

This weekend I did a show and I saw a perfect example of a business that was designed to make more money than mine. Timely, eh?
I was talking to my friend Kelly, a fellow vendor who used to have a brick and mortar yarn shop but the location was crappy so she started doing shows and selling online and selling things other than yarn. She mentioned…[Read more]

GREAT job, @james-bartley!!! I have had that same nerve-wracking experience of raising prices for services, and I know how hard it can be, but also how rewarding it is on the other side when you're getting paid more for your hard work!!!

I read this blog post on the net and it made me think of Gretchen Rubin's obliger definition. http://wilwheaton.net/2016/09/do-something-kind-for-future-you/
By making yourself another person, it might be easier to keep promises you make to yourself. -

Oh wow, Riin, so many great ideas here! I'm sorry I don't have much to offer except understanding and a hug! When I was doing Storied Yarns a much smaller version of this problem was exactly mine: how the heck did these more successful competitors get from where I was to where they were? I was working at maximum capacity and not seeing the revenue…[Read more]

I haven't tried it personally but I'm curious about it too so I just signed up with an account I use to test things. I'll play around with it a little and report back. Other than the automated emails, anything specific you want to know?

@riin-gill I'm not in the yarn world, so I don't know much about how far ahead of the season you'd be promoting your seasonal colors to wholesale customers. You say you're already dying to order for pretty much all your wholesale orders. What if you showed a (reduced) wholesale palette for the appropriate season for them to order from. If…[Read more]

*runs through giving high-fives to all!*
I did it! I survived the first three months of my first fiber club! And I managed to set up a new payment gateway and subscription management service and sent out the renewal email to current members yesterday. 7 renewals so far– almost half!
I'm finally getting my craft/office/storage room into order,…[Read more]
