@lynn-hershberger Oh, I know Meg! I haven't seen her since a little after the fire when she was selling off a bunch of smoke damaged yarn at a deep discount. I've talked to her briefly at shows, but never really in depth. I'd love for the three of us to get together though.
And I'd love for the two of us to get together! I was going to ask you…[Read more]

@jessica I saw this shawl on Ravelry and already had it queued to post on my Facebook page. The post went live just a little bit ago. 🙂 Very nice design!

PS. One business that is making it work is Twisted Fiber Art in Mason, Michigan (Meg Campbell-Crawley). They had a fire that totally closed their location and they lost all their samples, etc. They have had a few other hiccups. She dyes true gradients (not chunks of color like a rainbow yarn but actual slow gradations, she hand paints every single…[Read more]

Welcome @celeste1005501! I need help with Twitter, too. Your list is fascinating, and I wish you the best.
@tawny865794 Your art process is fabulous! I still can't believe you do it in your driveway in Berkeley. Welcome to the Starship!

@tanja-osswald I have been introduced to so many cool things through the Starship. This is just another one that is new to me! Thanks @tawny865794 for the link.

@riin-gill – I have been at your workspace, looking for colorways to use together in colorwork. I agree, you have too many colors.
If I could tell you what *I* wanted you to have, it would be a collection of the amazing almost-solids that you carry, in a very specific collection of colors that work awesomely for colorwork. That would work for…[Read more]

Thanks for the link, @tawny865794! That looks amazing. I'm especially stunned that you can touch the drop so quickly after forming it.

That's a really good point, @annette-petavy, and I think I need to have both! But what I'm seeing is that I have a superwash merino, and Yarn Company So and So has a superwash merino, and they're the same weight and ply structure, and my MSRP is $8-12 higher than theirs. That's where I need to source cheaper yarns!
But I'm not going to replace…[Read more]

Riin, perhaps I'm totally missing the point here, but just wanted to throw an idea into the mix.
You can't lower your prices, so you plan on sourcing cheaper bases.
Is there a place in your market for more expensive yarns, on more exclusive bases?
It's so hard to compete on prices, someone else will always be cheaper than you, and so many people…[Read more] -

@jill-wolcott I was a bit hesitant to speak up, since I don't have anything to do with the fiber world. However, I saw that you have interviewed a couple artists as well, so thought I'd see if my jewelry would be a fit for you. I make sun-melted glass jewelry made from recycled bottles and stained glass, melted using sunshine and a giant…[Read more]

Sadly, I couldn't make it to the Holodeck today, I am just too busy this week!
What's going well? I have had a great response on my knitting classes/workshop side of my business. My fall CustomFit Sweater Workshop sold out and our first session went really well. I was asked by the LYS I collaborate with to represent CustomFit at their booth and…[Read more]
