@mary-roth I so get biting that bullet! I have asked Mitch to stop at REI with me tomorrow on our return from the hairdresser so I can buy some rain gear for running. I figure I need to do it before it really becomes inclement. I need to not have excuses.
I cannot tell you how long I have been putting off buying gear for Pilates. It is kind of…[Read more]

@riin-gill You're welcome! I really wish there was a magic “Make my business perfect!” wand. but so far, I haven't located one. Just a lot of hard, but satisfying work. I suppose if we all wanted a lazy life we wouldn't be building our own businesses!

Sheesh, I posted this on the wrong quarter. So copying it here so people. Hope that's ok.
Sadly, I couldn’t make it to the Holodeck today, I am just too busy this week!
What’s going well? I have had a great response on my knitting classes/workshop side of my business. My fall CustomFit Sweater Workshop sold out and our first session went rea…[Read more]

I'm going to write from my own perspective here, so you can take what will work for you and use it. These are what make Yarn Love work, and YL is profitable. It's small, I watch the expenses like a hawk, and I use reports to determine what's working, what's selling well so I can do more of that in the future.
How I dye
Straight off, I'm weird in…[Read more]

Whatcha workin on?
Getting stuff done. I just spend an hour packing packages… I'll teach a workshop in Bonn this weekend, and next week, I'll be on a holiday. So I'm working on a lot of things that I want off my plate before I take my leave.
What’s going well?
I fixed a date for another workshop in my hometown. I'm gonna see my thesis advisor t…[Read more] -

Here’s your space to come every week and check-in on what’s going on.
Answer the questions (in as much or as little details you like):
Whatcha workin on?
What’s going well?
How can we help?We have a weekly LIVE check-in, in the Holodeck, every Wednesday at 2pm EST… but if you can’t make it live (thanks to time zones, schedules or just needing t…[Read more]

@mary-roth Online, where else?! ;p Originally we bought our lenses from Edmund Optics, but 5 years or so ago they discontinued the large size I need to get that much heat via solar concentration. Since then I found a site called GreenPowerScience.com that sells them. They do eventually get too scratched up to focus light well enough, but…[Read more]

Okay @tawny865794, I have to ask. Where on earth did you get a giant Fresnel lens?! That is ridiculously awesome, and I just had to call my physics professor husband in to watch those videos!

I'd appreciate it if any spinners and fiber folks could give my fiber club a boost! It's open to new members until the end of the month (or all spots are claimed).

I did last year, and was thinking about it again this year. @riin-gill it looks like there's still space on your team? I don't have a local team and while it's silly, I feel a little self-conscious when I contemplate joining teams headed by other fiber dyers– but if it's another captain, I can get over that!

Hey y'all! I finally bit the bullet and bought a pair of running shoes at the local(ish) running store, and with a healthy dose of encouragement from another friend I've started the C25K program. I survived day one yesterday! I also went ahead and registered for a local 5k in December, despite my hatred of being cold and wet, so please cross all…[Read more]

I wanted to thank everybody in the early chat today for convincing me to put aside my worries and and reach out to collaborate with the woman who's making some of the pieces for my new jewelry collection. She's super-excited about it, and we're plowing ahead!

I just left the Bay Area @tawny865794. Amy and I never saw each other unless Tara was in town because the Bay might as well be an ocean–and I was on the SF side. I love the sundrops too.

@amy-crook I am in SFEtsy! I don't do much on Etsy itself anymore, but I stay in so I can join the great shows SFEtsy does 🙂
Thank you everyone for the welcomes! I'm so happy to hear you like my work @kimberley-bridgwater and @sarah1213424 – it always helps to hear that, you know?
